Brothers by The Black Keys

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Oct 05 2023

Very clearly 90s rap. That’s not my genre at all, but it was well executed for what it is.

1984 by Van Halen
Oct 06 2023

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was less “hard” rock than I was guessing and it was pretty enjoyable to listen to

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Oct 09 2023

Fine songs, but entirely too long. It makes listening to the whole an issue

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Oct 10 2023

I like some of the stuff the White Stripes did so I came into this one expecting good things, but honestly the songs bored me. The first track on the album was good, it my attention fell off quick after that. It felt like checking your watch during a movie and seeing you still had another hour to go.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Oct 11 2023

This is sad cowboy music

Young Americans by David Bowie
Oct 12 2023

Great album, great length. Listened to it twice yesterday

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Oct 16 2023

I really don’t like the vocals of the Police. It’s ok for one song at a time, but over the course of an entire album, it gets grating

Oct 17 2023

I probably only like this album as much as I do because it gets me nostalgic about Fallout: New Vegas, but if by golly if ever want to feel like rootin’ tootin’ cowboy, this is your album.

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Oct 18 2023

Too sad and folksy for my tastes. I immediately forgot it when I finished listening.

The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band
Oct 19 2023

This is a SNL parody of 60s folk music. Utter garbage and completely unlistenable. I like music less after having listened to it. The Water Song is where I gave up. May God have mercy on my soul.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Oct 20 2023

Straightforward jazz album. Good if you’re into that sort of thing, I suppose.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Oct 23 2023

Wow! What a great album! Not surprising giving the iconic nature of its cover. Top to bottom great songs that just make you happy to hear. This is one I will be revisiting again in the future over and over.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Oct 24 2023

A perfectly fine album, but nothing to write home about. I listened to it twice, and both times it lost my attention about halfway through, but it wasn’t bad enough to turn off. Their version of Heard It Through the Grapevine can’t hold a candle to Marvin Gaye’s though.

I’m a Lonesome Fugitive by Merle Haggard
Oct 25 2023

This is an old western sad cowboy album. The vibes are very similar to Gunfighter Ballads And Trail Songs, which is also on this list, but that album does the same thing much, much better. This one’s ok and definitely makes me feel like I’m in the Old West, but it’s not one I’m likely to come back to intentionally.

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Oct 26 2023

It’s fine but not exciting, and it is definitely too long. Lots of singing in French, which I did not like, but the music behind the words is nicely done, even if it is a little same-y through the album

Oct 27 2023

Pretty typical folk fair in the beginning before finding its groove as something a little more interesting in the back half. Still not enough for me to revisit later, but I didn’t mind my listening experience.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Oct 30 2023

I will be ignoring all the obvious issues with the artist for this review and will instead focus on the music. Smooth as silk. A wonderful album by one of the best pop artists of all time. I listened to it twice back to back because I don’t stop till I get enough. Feel good groovy music to listen to. Great album that holds up even today.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Oct 31 2023

Flashes of brilliance, but also lots of odd moments I did not enjoy. From what I’ve heard, Joni Hendrix is an artist I like listening to one song at a time rather than an album.

Very by Pet Shop Boys
Nov 01 2023

This is a fun synth pop album. You won’t find anything deep and meaningful, but you’ll find a good time, and that’s all I’m looking for.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Nov 02 2023

Some pretty good songs (the ones you know) surrounding by a bunch of bad blues-y songs that you don’t know for a reason.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Nov 03 2023

It’s like fine to listen to but super forgettable. It’s a rock album that I was constantly forgetting I was supposed to be listening to. It was just there in the background.

Nov 06 2023

While listening to this album, you sense that it just sounds important. I really liked the style of hip hop she uses, and I found the the interludes with the teacher talking about what love is to be the best part of the album. The one thing I'd change is the length- it feels too long and I was "checking my watch" to see when it would finally end.
