Steely storytelling and charmingly borrowed musical phrasing. Wild west With A Gun. Horace Silver and Duke Ellington, but unfortunately packed into a short pop friendly radio format. Traded in longer jam breaks for creative instrumental use. I want to say its a friendlier way to get into Steely Dan, but the shorter format somewhat mutes the Aja glimmer they're known for. Blends jazz influence in effortlessly, for better or worse. Any Major Dude Will Tell You Night By Night Pretzel Logic Monkey In Your Soul (oddly enough none of the jazz loaners!)

Love the grooves and tones. Everything feels authentic. Live recording of Bitch by Mephistopheles, but tropical. Demerara vs pure cane. Unstressed strain. Similar sociocultural roots to Oblomov but qualitatively valuable regardless. Anything in order. Seriously. Organized well. Veinte Anos / Amor De Luca Juventad / Title track for decreasing public increasing public listenability

Herbie Hancock, Earl Klugh and motown. Creatively diverse composition and phrasing allows for a bouncier, warmer interpretation of classic R&B soul structures. Carnival of the Night is a Headhunter b-side composed by an actually sane person. Feels unfinished, like a small sampler EP of band favorite jams. My Lady The Hustler

Like a hand rolled cigarette learned to tango and make overly serious expressions. Interesting in concept but after a few steps and side eyes you just want to set it on fire.

Vintage romance. Bit of a shock coming down from I Love Your Lovin' Ways but it narratively sets the melancholy on the horizon. Pared back the bittersweet to just longing and fear, internally and externally. "Unsteady and heady" Lilac Wine Break Down And Let It All Out Either Way I Lose

Its John Zorn. Dont know what I was expecting and I was still bored.

The importance of this album implicitly understood, and the modern wet rag impact is explicitly felt. There's a reason this was followed by an encore album with an actual bossa nova player --- current fans will say it was to meet demand, sane listeners will recognize it was to capitalize on a short trend that has outlived its welcome. Every track is as creative (for its day and audience) as it is challenging (for its day and audience). I keep using A/B comparisons because there is nothing here that has an engaging place in the modern scene. It belongs in a museum for the best and worst reasons.

The Stooges to Bitches Brew's Iggy Pop. Herbie Hancock and Wayne shorter still shine through Davis' unbothered experimentation. Great introduction album for musically oriented non-jazz folk. Just a shame I cant list shining track because of the recording structure.

Not as familiar with afrobeat, but this makes me want to be. Sparky polyrhythmic grooves, evolving layering and horns like nothing else
