Gorillaz
GorillazInteresting album. Definitely different with some good tunes other than the famous Clint Eastwood song. Damon Albarn is a great songwriter.

The production value on this album is phenomenal. I really enjoyed listening to ArchAndroid. It was like a psychedelic, sci-fi trip meets the Great Gatsby... it was a blending of genre's I've never heard before. I really enjoyed the big orchestral sections and the "HUGE" cathedral choral sounds on the album. Definitely not a typical top-40 pop album. Pleasantly surprised and a good reason to continue to break out of the typical genres that I listen to that I think constitutes "Good Music."
This is a classic, though I am biased and already a fan of Elliott Smith. Elliott and the quiet dynamics of his songwriting are on full display here. Overall, a moody and depressing (to me) feeling album. "Say Yes" is still one of my favorite songs and it brings me back to my freshman year of college every single time.
Great display of musical prowess - lots of radio hits on this album as well as some deep cuts. Overall, very good album thats surprisingly short.
A lot funkier and jazzier than I anticipated WAR to be. I've always known them for their more mainstream hits, but there were quite a few psychedelic/spacey/funky/jazzy instrumentals. Pretty cool. I wasn't around in that time, but this *feels* emblematic of that early 70s, "slap me some skin", garish faux-Rolls-Royce era. Very cool.
Incredible. Aggressive, in your face. This must have been another mind-blowing album back in '92. I was six, so this was definitely off my radar, but this probably SHOCKED a ton of people. With the prison samples and all the racial content, this album is amazing.
Raw and heavy. Surprised how distorted the guitars were for 1977. Definitely way ahead of its time. Some great songs on this one.
Classic "stereo-typicaly" sounding indie music. It's good, though, not something I'd typically throw on the stereo if I want to listen to some tunes. Great production value and definitely very mellow.
Flesh of my flesh sticks out for me. Otherwise, a new wave album that didnt really do it for me.
Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful Jazz in a way that only Miles can do. Pure art.
From the very jump, masterpiece garage rock. Blue Orchid kicks ass. In the 2000s, I never "got it" with the White Stripes; I "get it" now. They're electric, they're whimsical, and they're unpredictable. What more could you want? The whole album is great, but the acoustic track "As Ugly As I Seem" sticks out to me. A great example of Jack's fine acoustic work.
Fine album with Otis Redding. Beautiful timbre throughout the album. A few covers with Otis' spin on things.
Beautiful Latin Jazz. The arrangements are just so interesting. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Classic album that I'm already very familiar with.
Absolutely mammoth. Epic. I had to throw this album on the big speakers. Born in the mid-80s, I was too young to fully understand and immerse myself in Nirvana-dom, but I'll never forget the first time my father bought this tape and eventual CD. The first time I heard "Come as You Are" sitting in the family van was life changing. Then the first time I heard "The Hit" on my dad's big stereo... when the drums came in was partly terrifying because I'd never heard such sounds just come roaring out before and it was exhilarating. I also remember talking about what guitar effects Kurt was using for "Come as You Are" with a family friend when we were kids. This album changed everything for me and it was visceral.
Fantastic album. Brings back great memories of college. I remember this being the RHCP renaissance from the early 90s and John Frusciante's return. A lot of classics on here. I did enjoy the Dave Navarro years, but John is CRUCIAL PIECE OF THE RHCP SOUND. No doubt about it.
What an incredible mix of strings and orchestral arrangements and synth sounds from that era. Nike Rodgers' guitar playing is phenomenal. Sense of rhythm and timing is impeccable.
Good classic album.
Pretty freakin' cool. I don't think I've ever really sat and listened to a proper industrial metal album. This was a pretty mind bending roller coaster ride and I wasn't dissapointed.
