The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Oct 21 2023

2/10 - decent sounds on some songs, but too weird for my taste Very mellow beginning I can't decide if the singer has a good voice or not, very lightly singing in the first song. The second song is way more upbeat, singer kind of growling vocals? I'm not into this so far Weird organ synth? Songs last too long Lots of nice guitar playing, lyrics are weird and just not vibing This isn't for me, strange lyrics and experimental, not my thing I don't want to DNF my first album, but getting close Beginning To See The Light sounds good to start, but will probably last too long - yep, already getting worse Weird yodel? Listened to the first 6 songs straight through, will skim the remaining There's a cool binaural audio on The Murder Mystery, 60s always messing with switching channels What the heck is this? Each ear has a different monologue? This song would be a trip if high lol Who is the woman singing the final song? This album is such an experimental 60s thing

Oct 22 2023

Somewhat mesmerizing, then there are loud noises Very mellow lyrics Cinematic is the right word! I can get behind this a bit Don't prefer the slow songs Actually growing on me some "Grounds for Divorce" has a good sound The lyrics are just random sometimes Weather to Fly is good The outros on these songs last forever "One Day Like This" is very good! Hard to say whether I liked it or not

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Oct 23 2023

I never care for McVie's lead vocals, every song she leads on I can't get into. Lindsey Buckingham continues his power lyrics and I enjoy them. This is by far my favorite album early on. I have always loved Rumours, so it's time I finally listened to Tusk. It doesn't hold that same high standard, but it is an enjoyable album. High 3/Low 4

Queen II by Queen
Oct 24 2023

A definite different kind of rock than I am used to with Queen. There is some really great guitar work and arrangement on these songs. I do prefer the more pop rock sound of later Queen. It is interesting to see where they come from! I did not dislike the sound of this album, but it continually got more and more operatic and strange. I would have rated the first half of the album higher than the second half. Upon research, Mercury wrote all of the B-side of this album while May wrote almost all of the A. I definitely prefer the A-side. I'd lean high 2, probably 2.5 if possible.

Oct 25 2023

So slow and boring nearly the entire time. Ray has great lyrics, but this just doesn't do it for me. I tried to give it a go, but I can't make it all the way through. I like the 60s, however, not these 60s.

Be by Common
Oct 26 2023

I gave it a go. Common uses fairly clear dictation, I can understand him better than a lot of rappers. I didn't care for the lyrics. I tried for a few songs until he started talking about if God was a woman. Talking about if he was dating this woman. No thank you.

The Who Sell Out by The Who
Oct 27 2023

I just don’t like these concept albums. “I Can See for Miles” is a great song on a bad album. DNF again.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Oct 30 2023

This album surprised me. I have never been a fan of Motown necessarily. I generally stray away from it. I have always liked "Chain of Fools" and "Natural Woman." Both classics and the rest of this album was very nice as well! I'm glad to finally enjoy the majority of an album. I would like to give 3.5 if possible, but will lean towards 4.

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Oct 31 2023

What even are these lyrics? Lemmy cannot sing at all. Just random thoughts being spewed out every song. Very questionable lyrics, just ridiculous. "Ace of Spades" is the only song worthwhile, the rest are just garbage. I wish I could go lower than 1 star.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Nov 01 2023

I really enjoyed this album! I have heard Doors songs, but never looked into them beyond the big hits. This album sounds so good and is very impressive for the era. This is my kind of music. I stray from giving 5 stars out of principle, I reserve that for albums with no skips that really agree with me. This would be 4.5 if possible.

Pyromania by Def Leppard
Nov 02 2023

Some really good sounding music on this album. Some of Def Leppard's most famous songs, but also some very forgettable songs at the same time. Sometimes can sound repetitive. "Photograph" and "Rock of Ages" are classics, but not exactly an unskippable album.

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Nov 03 2023

It's a cool sound, but I'm not sure I remember any of the lyrics. A punk/grunge vibe, definitely not the next coming of Nirvana. I would listen to some of the songs again, but nothing is an absolute must listen. 3.5

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Nov 06 2023

This was so good! As soon as I started it, I had a feeling I might be heading to my first 5-star ever! This did not disappoint, I was hooked. This mellow tone and folk sound is just my style. A truly great album that I would listen to again!

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Nov 07 2023

"America" and "Mrs. Robinson" are great songs, but other than that it kind of just drones on and on. A sharp contrast to the Cat Stevens album from yesterday. I wouldn't listen to the rest of the songs again.

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Nov 08 2023

Boring. The soft pop sound is just blehhh for me. Nothing stands out and I didn't want to listen to any more. Not sure why this album is on the list. Others that I didn't like I can see significance in. Not with this one.

The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Nov 10 2023

Just okay, kinda weird. Nothing stood out as a favorite and I wouldn't caret to listen to it again.

Green by R.E.M.
Nov 14 2023

An overall great sound and album. I have always enjoyed R.E.M. This was a good experience to hear some of their other songs and reconnect with ones I had forgotten about. There are some very strange ones on this album that make it a lower 4/higher 3. Just some random lyrics.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Nov 15 2023

It has some good sounds. I really liked Disorder, just kind of long and repetitive at times.

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Nov 17 2023

Just isn't it for me. The experimental sounds with the long instrumentals is never going to be good for me.

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Nov 20 2023

Just not my thing. I can appreciate the music, but lyrics are heavy and depressing. I would never choose to listen to RATM again.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Nov 21 2023

I feel like I enjoy this more than earlier Temptations. I have never been a big fan of Motown, this kind of straddles the line there. It is fairly enjoyable and has some songs I vibe with. Low end middle of the road for me.

#1 Record by Big Star
Nov 23 2023

A lot of noise and none of it good.

Immigrés by Youssou N'Dour
Nov 29 2023

I can understand where this comes from musically, but I can't enjoy it. I would rather listen to this some of the others I have had so far, so I will rate it a 2. 1.5 if possible.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Dec 11 2023

This is a fun listen. I had heard of him and some of his songs before, but this is the first time listening intently. There are a couple of weird songs, but overall a fun read with some hits.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Feb 04 2025

Two of the best 60s and a lot of iffy filler. I wanted to like this more as I am a huge fan of "California Dreamin" and "Monday Monday," but it wasn't there for me.
