It's pretty nice, groovy background music, but although I enjoy it and realize it's objectively good, I wouldn't really listen to it again. I can't really think of a context in which I would listen to purely instrumental prog rock. Still, it's pretty cool.
I started listening to this album casually while doing my makeup. I had to take a break from anything midway through Old Friends, because I started sobbing uncontrollably. Simon & Garfunkel have such a way to make you feel several emotions all at once, to the point where it's almost unbearable. And then it starts getting upbeat again, you almost feel like you're getting a break. Then Fakin' It comes along and it's the most relatable thing for anybody that's ever been even slightly depressed. Even the song Mrs. Robinson, which until now I almost saw as just a nice, upbeat song, took a darker, more nostalgic meaning in the context of the album. "That's an easy thing to say, but if your hopes shall pass away, simply pretend, that you can build them again". I think I needed this today. What a masterpiece. "Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you"
Pretty solid album, although the lyrics are kinda mid, the rich sound more than makes up for it. Would have loved to see more a of a switch up of the sound throughout the record, I felt as of it got a little bit tiring after a while. Rudy is a great song, probably the only one I'll revisit from the album, but Crime Of The Century and Slip Your Skin were good too. Maybe a 6.5 / 10.
9/10. Kinda bad really, I can't say I really like any one element of it, but somehow strangely it makes sense in the end. And it's the most calming album I've ever heard. it puts me in such a good mindset. great bus music.
Really liked Beetleburn, did not really listen attentively to the rest of this album. Would love to revisit it at some point when I'm more in the mood for this type of rock.
mid
Loved the first two songs, especially A rush and a push and the land is ours, but the rest of the album kind of blended together. All the other songs had kind of the same sound, which was good at the beginning but got boring after a while. 6/10 just because i loved those small growls of the singer
