Easy on the ears, Foals vibes, vocals are getting lost - questionable mixing?
Good background music, can enjoy without focusing on it
twink beatles, art hoes gon love this
Front half was better than the back half, ending section is a bit of a miss, overall a great album. Provided a comfortable / soothing listening experience. Better than I expected, 8.2/10
Wasn't expecting as much horny as I got, Hurt and a couple of others (I forgor) are pretty good. I was surprised and grateful for the variability throughout the album. 7.5/10
Broken Skin - W vibes, W voice. 4/5
Letting Go - I enjoyed this song, the sample didn't work as well as it did in the first track. 3.7/5
Homelands - Took a bit of an adjustment but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would've. 2.6/5
Pilgrim - What the hell is this? 1.2/5
Tides - Lo-Fi Girl Studying 2.8/5
Nadia - Nadia 1/5
Immigrant - Uwahhooohhaaaaahhhhhaah, male vocals tanked this song 3/5
Serpents - TUNA 0.2/5
Anthem Without Nation - Forgettable, idk man 1.5?
Nostalgia - Night core vibes, liked the vocals a lot but the breathiness wore on me quickly. 3.5/5
The Conference - Nart a good song, but it will be used for jokes 1/5
Beyond Skin - I LOVE SAMPLED NEWS CLIPS RAHH. Oppenheimer mentioned! I'm sure it concluded whatever nuclear point it was making throughout the album but I completely missed it. It was a good song before the music started 2.7/5
I had high expectations after the first song, those were quickly demolished.
Overall 2.26/5
Passive Listening Notes: IM SO TIRED OF THIS HIPPY SHIT FUCKKKKK
Most of the songs blend together,
Ha Ha I'm Drowning \
Sleeping Gas > Tuned out this drivel. 2.5/5
Treason /
Second Head - Decent, liked the chorus. 2.7/5
Poppies - This guy never gets tired of waiting. Didn't like chorus, sound, or vibes. Not through any fault of its own, just tired of the sameness. 2/5
Went Crazy - Some shit about boys vs girls and he is pain? 2/5
Brave Boys Keep Their Promises - I actually don't care 2/5
Bouncing Babies - God's bounciest baby, was a bit better than previous shit, 2.5/5
Books - Stopped listening by this point
Thief of Baghdad - Stopped listening by this point
When I Dream - Stopped listening by this point
Reward - Stopped listening by this point
Extra Tracks:
Not reviewing any other shit except for "Use Me" because it sounds like it goes hard
Use Me - A couple of the YEAAAHHWOWOAOOAs were cool, rest of the song was 6 different lines repeated over and over with shit ass strings in the background. 0/5 for not living up to the name
Overall: 1/5
Sun It Rises - Feels like the kind of thing that should be played over a montage of a small village festival, then suddenly goes all in with the twangy strings. 3.7/5
White Winter Hymnal - I enjoy the way this guy sings summertime. Instruments sound really good together here, bass is punchy. 4.1/5
Ragged Wood - Good, the vocal melody gets a bit repetitive (ironic considering this has been the most lyrically diverse song so far). The bass solo into the second half of the song was nice. 3.6/5
At this point I stopped actively listening. I’d have to categorize this album as either upper tier of mid or decent. It doesn’t suck but it’s also very forgettable and the instruments and vocals across songs are similar enough to blend together.
3.4/5
Street Life - Sax at the beginning sounded amazing. The part just before the first verse where it’s only piano until the other instruments punch in is very enjoyable. Vocals and instruments are great, the only thing that’s lacking in my eyes is the lyrical content; Granted though the idea the song is presenting doesn’t resonate with me. Pretty lengthy listen, I think ending the song after verse 2 would result in a more enjoyable listen. 3.4/5
My Lady - I initially really liked the trumpet in this song, however I came away thinking it domineered the track in a bad way. The drums are nice and laid back, wish I could hear more from them. Sax was great. I’m typically not to keen on instrumentals but I think my mind is starting to change. 3.6/5
Rodeo Drive - A welcome change in song length. A nice listen. 3.3/5
Carnival of the Night - Falls a little flat towards the middle. The piano seems to be the focal point, but it’s not particularly impressive. 2.6/5
The Hustler - It’s alright, I don’t have too much to say about it. 2.5/5
Night Faces - Pretty much the same as the last song. 2.5/5
The front half was a lot better than the second half. The front half seemed to have more substance to the music while the back half sounded, not phoned in, but just lackluster. A couple of songs went a little longer than I think is necessary. People have called this elevator or hold music but I think that only really applies to the last 3 songs.
