Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band

What a strange conglomeration of styles and genres. Just weird, crazy music. However, I found it interesting in an odd way for me. This was certainly something ahead of its time for 1969. In retrospect, I was just 6 years old and had no clue that this stuff was out there. For the great creativity and pioneering spirit I give it 4 stars!

Abraxas by Santana
Dec 03 2023

Masterful work by Carlos Santana. The true pinnacle of Classic Latin Rock for all time!

Sea Change by Beck
Dec 04 2023

Smooth, mellow creativity, but sad ballads in this album, which reflects his breakup with his girlfriend. Not a particular favorite of mine, but still a good work from Beck.

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Dec 05 2023

The true pioneer of psychodelic rock/blues both in writing and performing. This album is the all-time classic and set the bar to which all is measured.

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Dec 06 2023

A country classic! Great to hear the live dialog in between songs.

Disintegration by The Cure
Dec 07 2023

Interesting long track album. Definitely deep gothic kinda techno rock. A classic of the 80's rock ballad sound as a precursor to the acid/punk rock of the 90's.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Dec 08 2023

Wow, didn't know that they had some covers and interviews on the album. Still, this is a testimony of the great Isleys and the pillar of who they are. I never knew they had 11 albums at this point in their discography. Kudos to them and their accomplishments. Great classic soul of the time.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Dec 09 2023

I used to own this on vinyl and played it often back then. Another all-time classic album from the era.

The Who Sell Out by The Who
Dec 11 2023

The Who is a classic '60s rock sound, which I didn't realize what I heard often back in the day. I thought they were much harder rock, so I was surprised at this album.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Dec 13 2023

Not my cup of tea, but a decent album.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Dec 16 2023

If only 2 tracks on the entire album, it is a masterclass work by Miles Davis! Impressive work of the time. This is supposedly a fusion work but I feel like it's more jazz than anything else. I enjoyed listening to the entire record. It was flowing and relaxing while bright and dynamic all at the same time.

A great ballad album. I didn't know she had this, but she was a fine singer. I would have like more up tempo tracks.
