Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jan 02 2024

A few bangers, very groovy. knopfler really shines here. the issue is the songwriting (outside of a few songs) doesn't do it for me all the time. also a tad too low-energy (which could be influenced by mood on my end when i listened.) biggest disappointment, though, was that the singles were the best songs on the album

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Jan 03 2024

groovy, too lovey dovey

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jan 09 2024

one day i will find the energy to write a proper review--but for now i'll say simply that biggie was a complex man who (metaphorically) poured himself onto his page. i know he didn't really write raps and is a freak that was able to work out his poetry in his head, but this album goes to many dark places and is beautifully and masterfully performed. rip

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jan 10 2024
Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Jan 11 2024

apart from the ephebophilia, this album explores interesting avenues sonically (i don't know french so i can't really critique the songwriting) and is a really nice listen. again, forgetting about the lyrics, it feels artful yet fitting to listen to drinking a glass of wine or something.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Jan 12 2024

I can't believe I haven't heard this before. What an amazing sound that no doubt lays the foundation for modern indie but was also very much a product of its time: 80s dream/ambient pop full of wavy, dreamy rhythms. Loved it!!

Jan 13 2024

cmon son that's a classic joint. only problem is it's a little too poppy. 4.5 stars. definitely listen to their earlier work for perfect works of art and music!

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Jan 17 2024

this album is simply perfection

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Jan 18 2024

for folks that loved this, loveless is generally regarded as their best album. this album is such a beautiful entry into the shoegaze genre with some minor hiccups in production quality.

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Jan 19 2024

smooth, groovy, accessible jazz. well done, fun live album

Os Mutantes by Os Mutantes
Jan 21 2024

an interesting album that ultimately falls flat for me personally. but, in the context of the time i could see myself really digging them maybe with a few more listens? they're not too dissimilar to bands i'm familiar with and love from this era of alt/experimental rock

Is This It by The Strokes
Jan 25 2024

this band got me into "indie" back in the day lol

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Feb 08 2024
