i really liked this album - borderline love, actually. it’s a masterpiece and the sheer talent here is unbelievable. now i’m embarrassed to have never heard this album in full. i’m also convinced that if not for his early death, he would have been made a household name. full review on instagram - @musicwithnessa !
i did really like Phantom, and Phantom Pt. II because it let my brain rest after the first few songs in the album. that was really nice. my favourite song from this album overall is Phantom Pt. II. I’m giving this album a 2/10 because while i can appreciate that it’s been done very well, i just don’t like it; if you like electric music / disco, this is definitely for you ! full music review on instagram @musicwithnessa
i understood why every song was in the album (well, nearly every song) and though i loved this album overall, i will never listen to some of these songs again - to me, they were very dry-my-hand-and-lean-out-of-the-bath-to-skip kind of songs, so i rate the album a solid 6.5/10. perhaps my opinion will change, and if it does, i’ll update you all. but for now, i stand by my rating ! rest of the review on ig: @musicwithnessa
i really, really enjoyed this album, and i find that a little surprising since i didn’t have any expectations for this album, though i do quite like 60s music. full review on instagram @musicwithnessa
i found the production at times dated, reflective of its mid-80s origin. despite this, the album is actually okay ! personally, i think this album is one of those albums where you cherrypick songs and listen to those but you don’t listen to the full album more than once, and for that, it’s getting a 4/10 from me. rest of the review on ig @musicwithnessa
the album's themes explore the complexities of love, existentialism, and societal reflections, and is a testament to Radiohead's continued evolution as artists, maintaining their reputation as a band with a willingness to experiment with sound. it’s not a bad album, just not my style. i’ll rate it a 5/10. full rating on ig: @musicwithnessa
in my opinion, what sets Here Are The Sonics apart is its unapologetic, rebellious attitude - they definitely influenced countless bands that followed. this album is a sonic time capsule, a visceral snapshot of a band unafraid to push the boundaries of the musical landscape, leaving an indelible mark on the evolution of rock music. i enjoyed this album, even though i didn’t think i would. there are definitely skips, but this is not a bad album overall. i’ll give this a 6/10. rest of the review on ig: @musicwithnessa
this album effectively captured a moment of transition for The Beach Boys, showcasing their ability to evolve while maintaining the essence of their sound. it remains a pivotal album in the band's discography, marking a shift toward more sophisticated musical landscapes. i enjoyed this album a lot. it’s getting an 8/10 out of me :) rest of the review on ig @musicwithnessa
i don’t have a lot to say about this album - honestly, it’s just different to most albums you’ll hear in in hip hop. its innovative use of samples creates a playful and eclectic sound, transporting you to a different world and is like a breath of fresh air and full of positivity and creativity, and for that it gets an 8/10 for me. full review on ig @musicwithnessa
Jonathan Richman's ability to distill complex emotions into simple, relatable narratives, combined with the band's raw sound, cements this album as an essential and influential work in the evolution of alternative and punk rock, but sonically, it’s just not for me. it’s a wonderfully curated album and a lot of thought was put into it, but it’s just not for me. it’s getting a 3/10 from me. sorry :’(
despite not achieving mainstream commercial success, the album garnered a dedicated following among fans of folk and psychedelic rock. it offered a rich tapestry of sounds and emotions. it’s one of those albums that you actually have to listen to properly to realise it’s not missable, but if i was listening to it on radio, i’d definitely be changing the channel to see if there are any other songs. it wasn’t terrible though, and was a good listen, so it’s getting a 6/10 from me ! full review on ig: @musicwithnessa
the album's allure stems from not only in its musical innovation but also in its ability to radiate a warm, dreamy quality throughout, mirroring the golden hues its title suggests. it is literally my favourite so far - it’s such a 10/10 album, and deserves nothing less. full review on ig - @musicwithnessa
throughout Cut, i wanted to cry. the Slits struggled to strike a balance between musical experimentation and cohesive songwriting. while their fearless attitude is commendable, it's ultimately overshadowed by a lack of musical cohesion and direction. solid 0/10 from me.
overall, Aqualung’s rich musical textures, thought-provoking lyrics, and masterful performances continue to inspire and resonate with people, now including me, and i’ll be giving this album a 7.5/10. full review on ig @musicwithnessa
all in all, Kilimanjaro is, and will continue to be, a timeless classic. it’s a seminal work in the alternative music canon; it’s beautiful - i love it. anything less than an 8/10 for this album is disrespectful. it’s fun, and really what the 80s were about ! i definitely recommend this album :)
