Fucking phenomenal. My anthem.
Love the live album. God you can feel his charisma and energy and the crowd's excitement. So many fantastic songs on this album, a lot more I'd already heard than I realized. What a legend
Not the biggest new wave fan but this album could maybe change that.
I normally don't like 80's pop and synth-y stuff, but this album surprised me. Need to rewatch some John Hughes films. Did a bit of googling after hearing When You Were Mine and found out she's a huge LGBTQ advocate so that's dope. Go women!
Grew up listening to What's the Story (Morning Glory) on cassette and I liked how this album had less of a poppy acoustic feel and more rock like the Kinks ig? So British. I love it lol
I love folk and this is no exception. Surprised I'd never heard of him. I adore the ability of a good folk song to grab and hold your attention with a heartfelt story, with such stripped down instrumentals. The guitar on this album is gorgeous though too.
Really cool to hear some female fronted punk. Haven't heard them before but it was neat learning about how foundational they were to post-punk. Not something I'd probably put on myself, but I enjoyed it although it definitely sounds like the 80s.
what a beautiful album. not my favorite musically but her ability to tell a story and convey yearning and heartbreak is UGH. love
Fucking phenomenal. Sounds like a manic episode. I'm absolutely obsessed, new favorite study music
Holy fuck. How have I never heard this before??? Phenomenal and will be listening on repeat, but it's 5 AM and I haven't slept so that's as detailed as this review is getting. very tom petty vibes traveling wilburys but maybe its the other way around. Either way Neil Young Ate here
Didn't like this so much at first but by the end I was so caught up in it. Kind of reminds of of Jason Molina and Songs: Ohio but more rock and less folk. Loved it.
Haven't listened to a lot of rap but would like to learn more, really enjoyed this and will be exploring east coast rap more for sure
Completely and totally obsessed. Jeff Buckley knows me and every heartbreak I've ever had, down to my core. Genuinely his grasp of anger and intimacy and devotion and grief is stunning and musically it's so rich, his vocals are incredible. Nothing but praise.
Kinda reminded me at times of Fiona Apple, or on the folksier side of Karen Dalton, at least vocal wise. Knew when to be soft and when to have some edge and I enjoyed the electronica indie bits woven in. I liked it:)
So good. Sweet Thing is such a good song. This album is just such a pleasure to listen to amd easy to get lost in, feels like early summer
God I love his voice. Covers and originals he has such a way of taking a song and making it his own, of just capturing you. Could listen to this on repeat
Not super familiar with this genre so I'm not gonna have anything super intellectual to say about this album, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Would LOVE to party to this but it was also perfect for deep cleaning my apartment. Honestly makes me want to get more into EDM.
Liked this way more than JuJu, love how upbeat it is and I like her vocals on this. Can absolutely see how it was hugely influential to post punk. Would put this on of my own volition for sure
Heartbreaking, beautiful, upbeat but slow in the right spots. Gut wrenching grief and drowning it with sex and booze. Unmatched. This album carried me through some of the worst heartbreak of my life. Love her and this album through and through
Really wish half stars existed on here so I could give this a 2.5 instead of 2. I'm rating these subjectively tho and not based on historical significance and as bad of a music fan it makes me I really did not like this album. I get the appeal and sometimes I like ambiance but here it just wasn't for me. The majority of the album with the exception of Heroes wasn't for me. Will relisten some and try to adjust my tastes but I don't think it's gonna happen.
I haven't listened to a lot of jazz before but I really loved this. So smooth and upbeat, really pleasant and interesting but easy to just daydream or work to. The backstory is neat and you can really feel the synergy between all the players
Was it probably way longer than necessary? Yeah. Was it repetitive at times? Also yeah. That being said, it has a mid 2000's internet vibe and it was really good to put on in the background to get into a flow. Cleaned a bunch of my apartment and hardly even noticed the time. I enjoyed it but also I am not listening to the last 40 minutes because it's giving me a headache.
eh just not rlly a fan. never rlly liked prog stuff and the piano and the lyrics just weren't it for me
Really enjoyed this but it definitely doesn't sound like it came out in 2013 lol
Was groovy to put on while I cleaned and did self care but idk that I'd actually put it on to f*ck someone lmao
Feel like I need to give this one a few more listens. Love the political lyrics. Her voice is so interesting and it definitely sounds like the early 2000s, musically it's interesting but not my favorite. I think if I were at the club and had heard it before though it'd fuck it up
So many sentimental songs on this album, he touches on so many emotional notes in a tender way. Sonically not my favorite folky music but still enjoyed. Definitely a historic album
Loved this so much. Felt like summer time doing something crazy with friends. Janis Joplin is so damn cool
