I don't normally like the genre of The Undertones (et al.) but I found the album fun and an overall enjoyable listening experience. If I was into that genre, several of those songs would be on my regular rotation.
TMWS is an absolute banger - but in my opinion, is held down by the rest of the album. I can absolutely imagine the person this would appeal to, but it wasn't hitting for me. Shame, because again, I really love TMWS.
What a treat to listen to. Burke's voice was calming and melodic. Thoroughly enjoyed, though the genre is not my favorite and I can't see this entering my rotation. I appreciate the artistry and think that anyone who is into blues will enjoy this album tremendously.
Not for me, though for the right person I feel like this would be extremely well received. I can appreciate the lyricism and artistry, but don't really understand the purpose. I feel like if I was ever in the mood to listen to something like this, I'd sooner put on MF Doom (RIP).
Nothing memorable for me. Easy to listen to, but I think it was just not my vibe.
This was a treat to listen to. Enjoyed each track, and of course, the Prince is awesome.
This was such an interesting album. A real treat to listen to. It’s engaging, unique, and a very enjoyable mix of cultures. I would recommend this to anyone that has interest in the Blues for something familiar yet totally new.
Was not avail in Spotify for some reason. I refuse to do any further digging. So what? I’m lazy.
I was not expecting to like this album as much as I did, especially after my first impressions. Candidly, I almost passed on the whole album after the first few seconds because of the singer.
However, it slowly started to grow on me and I enjoyed most of the album. Except for Words and Guitars. That song was not good at all. It alone drops it to a 3 from a 4 in my book, whatever that’s worth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I couldn't find myself wanting to finish the album in one sitting, for some reason. Maybe it's season of life. However, each song is incredible and written with audible conviction. I'd never complain if I heard one of these songs in my daily life.
Eh, I thought it was pretty good. Sounded like a quintessential 80's album, so it was fun to listen to.
First song was one of the most awesome listening experiences I've had in a while. A classic rock ballad. The rest was enjoyable to listen to, and reminded me of listening to classic rock with my dad when I was a boy. Good album, I'll definitely listen again.
This just wasn't it for me. Can't say I'd ever put this back on again.
RFE is such a great song - it carries the album and sets the tone. The rest is not nearly as good, but still enjoyable!
I actually really liked this one. Very folksy, easy to listen to. It's clear that this album has inspired a lot of songs I've heard. Glad it was recommended.
Very avant-garde, in my opinion. Enjoyed this more than I thought i would - i appreciate how atmospheric and unique this sounds. It rings true as a product of its time.
