The music sounded good for what it was, this type of music just isn't for me.
I very much enjoyed listening to this album. Quite a few songs of his I had never heard before, I especially enjoyed Funeral for a Friend, This Song Has No Title, and All the Girls Love Alice. Of course Saturday Night's Alright and Bennie and the Jets are the greatest of bops.
The first three songs are classics, but I'm finding myself enjoying the other songs I haven't heard more (i.e. Bullet the Blue Sky and Trip Through Your Wires). I honestly have more respect for U2 now than I did before. I feel like their "hits" are all pretty one note, but some of the smaller songs show what kind of range and talent they really have. I get more now why dads and my highschool English teacher are so enthralled with U2.
This album absolutely kicks ass. I've only heard their big songs before, but there are some truly incredible tunes and jam tracks in here. This is the kind of music that makes me want to grab my guitar or drum set and jam out. Maybe we bring jam bands back???
I respect the Boss, but this just seemed kind of slow and wasn't really my vibe.
Mostly not for me.
I really enjoyed their version of Good Golly Miss Molly and Penthouse Pauper was fun. Proud Mary is a perfect piece of music. The other songs felt kind of fillerish to me, that being said, CCR is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands.
Undoubtedly, Linkin Park has some eternal bops; In the End, Crawling, and One Step Closer among them. There were a few fun surprises on this, but most of the album blends together in my opinion. Runaway and a Place For My Head were pretty good.
I quite enjoyed listening to this album. It was great music to have on while I was working on tasks that needed my "full attention" and thought processes. I don't know if I can see myself just sitting down and listening to this without having something else I'm doing.
This was fine, honestly I just found the music kind of boring and repetitive. Just not my genre I suppose.
FuNkY!!! Kinda gave me David Bowie vibes a little bit here and there.
Kinda gave me early U2 vibes. Honestly this album was way better than I expected. Before listening to this, I only knew Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve.
Giving this 4 stars because there are 3 ALL TIME classics and bangers on this album. I think Baba O'Riley is one of the greatest songs ever made. Besides those 3 songs, the others are a bit more run of the mill. Still good, but nothing insanely special.
This was some great 80s vibes. Another cool exposure to a band that I only knew their big hit from.
This is not what I was expecting from a White Stripes album. Most of these songs felt like unfinished demo tracks. Why did they decide to put a xylophone/marimba on so many songs??? A couple of good White Stripes classics, but overall I was disappointed.
This was a real surprise. Didn't know any of the songs except Blister in the Sun. I feel like this is a band that lots of other more current bands would site as an influence (Cake, etc)
This album is perfect. I know I complain about songs feelings very samey on a record, and this album has some of that, but it doesn't bother me as much here. His lyrics really are hitting, and the environment of the prison makes for such a cool concert. Whatever producer decided to leave in the swearing, audience banter, and prison announcements knew what they were doing. It is a perfect touch of humanity. 25 Minutes to Go is such a hauntingly beautiful song, I remember the first time I ever heard it. I was watching a lyric video on YouTube for the song, and it felt like a man was dying in front of me. An underrated masterpiece.
