Illmatic by Nas
Jan 22 2024

I like the juxtaposition between life’s a bitch and the world is yours. One is about living in the moment because you never when you’re gonna go but the next track is about making plans for the future. Also the boom bap drums and the bass lines under the piano and DJ scratching. Good stuff. Not afraid to call out pain. Struggling. Also is there an ace of bass reference?!

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Jan 25 2024

Fun album…kinda weird noises from the lead singer at times…groovy bluesy stuff. Not really my thing though.

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jan 26 2024

Really dig this one. Figured it would be mostly acoustic folk sort of stuff but a good bit had a nice groove. I also like the lyrical content and the melodies. I knew these guys existed but never really got into it but I can see the appeal. Bet the live shows were fun.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Feb 01 2024

I like Billy Joel's penchant for storytelling in his lyrics...fun album overall.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Feb 07 2024

Really enjoyed it. I've been trying to get into more jazz over the past couple of years, and I've learned there's a whole lot out there, even when you just consider some of the classic artists. Everything from compilations to live albums...stuff that was a once-in-a-lifetime event. I got the impression that this recording really captured something special in Ellington's career.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Feb 08 2024

Honestly I hated the first 30 seconds of it and then it rocked. I dug the garage rock brit pop sound, and I didn't mind it when they slowed it down a bit. Good stuff.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Feb 09 2024

Didn't actually listen to this one when it popped up...no need. This was one of those albums I listened to over and over as a kid...and into adulthood. Love it. Front to back. All rippers no skippers.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Feb 14 2024

Not really my thing...the radio hits were fine...but you gotta respect the impact that record had.

Damaged by Black Flag
