Follow The Leader
KornSo good. I loved this.
So good. I loved this.
I have heard all those songs seperately but never together - it went so hard all together. What a groundbreaking album, I can see why so many have followed in their footsteps. My favorites were Electric Funeral, Hand of Doom, and Jack the Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots.
Not a huge fan.. I can respect the craftsmanship and the talent (and time) that went into it, but I am not a fan of piano instrumentals.
Simple, yet complex. Elegant, yet raw. This album evoked moods and thoughts from me I didn’t know I felt. Wonderful to listen to, but an honor to hear. The instrumentals were beautiful and Joni’s soft voice complimented them perfectly.
I have never been a Van Halen fan. Their songs always sound messy and imperfectly put together - which is maybe the point. The guitar is obviously monumental and was a role model for guitar to come, but I find it overshadowed by the erratic drumming.
I had so much fun listening to this album. This is real rap talent. I often forget the actual artistry and talent it takes to make hip hop music. Before the synth, before the autotune, before the Soundcloud. I can see how this album prominently represents this period.
I love new wave but I have never been a fan of the Talking Heads. This album didn’t really change that for me, but I gained an appreciation for some of their work I wouldn’t have been exposed to otherwise. The album didn’t have a ton of songs I enjoyed on it, but it was very cohesive.
Good! I loved the first bit of the album instantly, then it fell off, but then it bounced back on! Zen vocals, fuzzy instrumentals. Fantastic to listen to on a rainy day like today.
There is so much going on with this album. The backtrack/instrumentals are so overwhelming - but somehow it works! This album finds a lot of humor in their songs despite some of them having a profound message. This is different from any other hip hop I’ve heard.
These guys are known to have all their songs sounding the exact same, so imagine my surprise when some of the songs were not painfully alike their other music. Tickle me pink! I found myself wanting to listen to the words, wanting to know the meaning, and wanting to be enveloped in the instrumentals. I love their more popular music, but I was so confused about how they are such a. beloved band. I get it now. I want this album as an IV.
Not my favorite. It felt like a bunch of songs about random things that did not all go together. Some of the songs were good, most were not. I don’t see how this was a pivotal album in any sense.
I don’t speak fluent enough french to understand the words, but it’s crazy how the emotion behind them transcends that. This was a live album recorded in the 60’s, so the sound quality was not there. But, Jacques’ voice was powerful. I can see why other artists have taken after him.
I hated this album. The lyrics were good, sure. The instrumental was awful and felt like it was missing something. The flow was not there.
Not unique. All the songs sounded the same with vocals washed out by the instrumental. Some good songs, but not enough to make me a fan.
Elevated elevator music. It’s not bad for what it is, but I found myself wanting more.
Amazing wailing raspy voice. You can really heart the emotion and the store behind every word she sings. I can see how a loud persona like this has set up succsss for other women to follow.
Really good homework music. I got a lot of work done and was not at all distracted by what I was listening to. Not very attention capturing.
Really average. All the songs had the same feel, but it felt repetitive and easy to drown out.
Yay! A favourite! Such a classic. Each song was so different from the next - and none of them bad! A 'must listen' again, and again, and again!
Progressive rock. Lots of musical components and composition requirements. This was a really uniform album. I can see how Yes pioneered and made this genre popular.
BAD!! I got to song 3 and had to stop. I am not even open to hearing anything else from this artist. Brutal.
Awesome new wave album. The techno-synth beats aren’t too in your face. I can see why this album was a defining feature of the genre.
I loved this. I thought I would hate it because the cover art is trash and I HATE the song ‘Alright’… but it turns out that’s the only bad song on the whole album. I had no idea what genre it would be and I was not expecting it to be my taste. I added almost every song to my playlist. Amazing.
None of these songs were notable to me, but I loved how this album was consistent. I did my homework to this and each song had the same feel and gave the same vibe. Beck knew how this album wanted to be and went with it. A really spectacular collection of music.
This album was good. I was really expecting ‘Come on Eileen’ to be their only hit and only decent song…. because let’s be honest that song isn’t even the best and it’s so popular. I was surprised by the other songs and how they haven’t had their time to shine. Good.
I’m glad I’m aware this music exists, but I am so ok never hearing it again. It’s cool to see what other artists have drawn inspiration from - but it should not be it’s own album.
Female new wave! This group really brought a good beat and a well-suited voice. I enjoyed this.
Elevator music with Sinatra vocals. Easy listening, not bad songs, but nothing I would look forward to hearing again. Very easy to drown out.
I liked the old country feel of this album.
I loved this. Consistency reigned this album. I had no favorite songs because there was never a moment I didn’t enjoy what I was hearing.
It was really long. I can see this being his genre, and maybe all the albums sound like this, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be split into a few album. Every song sounded mostly the same, but they were good.
Good instrumental - but it’s still basically elevator music. Not very enticing.
So good. I loved this.
Amazing. The instrumentals of each song fully enveloped me.
Amazing. Kendrick truly has one of the best flows. He conveys the stories with such rhythm you want to pay attention. A true artist.
This was horrible. If I were trapped in a haunted dollhouse - this would be the soundtrack.
I mean, it’s good. The message is good, the music is good - but it’s no better than any other reggae. The same message and same rhythm all sounds like the same song after a while.
This must have been a really exciting album for people who make commercials. The album demands attention.
It was okay. This was another case where the most popular song on the album was not the best, in my opinion. I enjoyed listening to it, but there wasn't really anything special about it
Iconic. Not his best, but certainly not the worst. ‘Life on Mars’ gave me butterflies.
I loved it, but it wasn’t special. If this was the best of their music I understand why they weren’t more popular. The music itself was great and has great potential, but the production value was not there.
I love the Cure, but I think I would like to take their melancholy in smaller doses than this.
I liked this a lot. It is a shame it came out late 2000’s rather than in the 90’s. Had it come out 10 years earlier, I think it would have been a lot more influential. ‘Heads Will Roll’ being the most popular song is a snub, even though that song is great as well.
