Urban Hymns by The Verve
Jan 29 2024

I thoroughly enjoyed the album. It is the quintessential 90s alt rock album. It makes me nostalgic for a time I never experienced. A lot of review said many of the songs were forgettable. And to be fair a lot of the melodies did not stick with me. But the feeling did and that's the most important thing I think.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jan 30 2024

The brilliance of the album may be lost on me since I was not around for the time to see how groundbreaking it may have been for its time. But it sounds incredibly generic with weak instrumentation. And by then end I was tired of Neil Young's weak and shrill voice. Running Dry was a fun track but other than that I was disappointed with this album.

This album was sort of hit or miss for me. Some tracks were very fun, some were a slog to get through. When a track managed to avoid using the same 2 drum patterns and 4 electronic effects that kept popping up throughout I really enjoyed it. I'm also not a huge fan of how a lot of hip-hop and electronic music overuses vocal samples as part of the rhythm of a song and there's a lot of that so it just wasn't my style. Great producing and clearly ahead of its time. I can see what makes it great and why people love it, but it just isn't my favorite.

Very hype album. A few mediocre songs in the middle but overall I really enjoyed it. Also Lars you suck and held the band back.

Hot Shots II by The Beta Band
Feb 02 2024

LOVED this album. Very novel listening experience and even when the artistic choices were odd it was a lot of fun. The harmonies on Al Sharp slapped.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Feb 06 2024

Great listen, but definitely not something I'm adding into my library

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Feb 07 2024

DOPE AF. Makes me nostalgic for an era I never lived in. 11/10

BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Feb 08 2024

Jay-Z's rapping is trash and I'm not a huge fan of albums that are clearly an effort of a massive team of corporate song writers. Some songs were fun but this album was just okay.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Feb 12 2024

10/10, loved the album and Amy's voice is insane.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Feb 21 2024

some of the best musicians in the world at the time all in one band. Big good listening experience 11/10
