Honestly I really want to like the album because I like artist and the concept but so many of the songs are just sound and talking or super repetitive. Also the storyline is lowkey hard to understand unless you're listening to it after knowing what it's about so that kinda defeats the purpose. Overall like it's a fine album with a cool concept and I like a few songs from it but it's just kind of a weird album and I don't really like the music. 1 point for Comfortably Numb, 2/5.
imagine is a classic, banjo beats fucking sucks lmfao, jealous guy is pretty good instrumentally, it's so hard instruments lowkey kinda bang but i hate what he does with his voice sorry john lennon sorry old people, idwbasm dragged on for so long especially considering i got tired of it about 1 minute in. it was so boring i got tired of writing the title. to be honest i was just waiting for it to end and then it just kept going, but then it got to the next song and it's not much better so maybe this kind of music just isn't for me. also i lowkey cant understand what he's saying. the bass line on how do you sleep is just so repetitive and boring and the drums feel like someone is hitting me in the head with a hammer. also the instrumental break sounds like it's played by a 16 year old kid who just learned how to do vibrato. tbh i liked "how?" i think his slower and more emotional songs (imagine) are just better because the rest just sounds like loser country played by a 16 year old and sung by someone who's trying too hard sorry john lennon. also i genuinely laughed out loud at the harmonica played by an actual chimpanzee at the end of "oh yoko" because what the fuck was that. 1/5
This album would've been an easy 4 without Voodoo Dolly. unfortunately the last song has a large impact on my rating because obviously i hear it last and it just made me think "what the fuck is going on" the whole time. most of the songs were good, i quite enjoyed them at the start. i found the use of bass drum unique and refreshing up until i heard Voodoo Dolly. and then i got tired of it very quickly. overall 3/5, would've been much more enjoyable for me without voodoo dolly but still a pretty good album
Overall quite an enjoyable album. Five Years kind of dragged on at the end but other than that very strong songs. Starman is a classic for a reason, and the whole album was rather cohesive with no major issues. I feel like I would have had to pay more attention to understand the story behind the strange album title but obviously that didn't take away from the experience. Good album, 4/5.
Overall pretty good album. Nothing particularly stood out to me as either good or bad. Good instrumentals, good singing. 3/5 lol
Way too long for someone who isnβt already a fan. Some of the songs were pretty good but listening to Black Night 3 times kind of takes away from it
bro i swear the artists discovered one (1) sound effect and just ran with it for an entire album. you know which one i'm talking about. i swear i'm about to have a stroke. each song indivudually is fine but the album just goes on and on and on and on and on. 2/5, it's pretty well produced but i just hated listening to it
The piano in some of the songs kinda remind me of ABBA (not a bad thing). The instrumentation is very good, I don't really like his voice but wtv. This is the only real legitimate Israel btw π€π€π€. Overall a pretty good album, a couple good songs but there are admittedly a few skips (so far). Favourites are Dearest and The Greatest Man In the World. 4/5 jk Dearest is mega cream worthy 5/5
Not a lot of singing... (hooray!!) overall it's pretty good, a bit slow for the instrumentals but like it was kind of a vibe. Towards the end it started sounding like the Doctor Who soundtrack though.... (Weeping Wall 02:13). 2/5 lol i just didn't rock with it heavy π
Honestly not bad, after listening to Rounder (instrumental) I went back and relistened, a lot of the tracks I didn't really appreciate the instrumentals enough. I'm not a super big fan of a lot of the melodies but the singing is pretty good and again I liked the instrumentation. Favourites are Rounder and 8:05. Idk why they're gatekeeping half the songs from us, but 3/5 regardless.
Lots of classics, a few of the songs I wasn't too big of a fan of but I liked the instrumentation on almost all of them and I like his voice. Favourites are Beat It (lol) and The Lady in My Life. I didn't enjoy the album as a whole too much but it's definitely pretty good. 4/5
Lowkey I thought Stevie Wonder touched kids idk why. Anyway pretty good album, high quality production and instrumentals, just not really my type of music. 3/5
The opening was p good I liked the guitar except then he started singing and i almost shit myself. honestly not bad overall, not my type of rock tho. i think the instrumentals were pretty sex, some of the songs dragged on a little but still good. didn't really like the singing tho. no favourites, nothing really stood out to me. 3/5
haha boner (grow up) anyway honestly i quite liked the album even though it's old as fuck. i liked the instrumentals and the singing was... fine. high 3/5 but if i liked his voice a little more i think it could've been bumped up to a 4.
apparently this band was super influential and was cited as a major inspiration for nirvana and metallica. i dont really see how tbh because this was kinda mid. i guess in 1980s UK this was the most exciting thing going on. the guitar line was unique and everything was well executed, i just didnt really enjoy sorry guys. also the repeated songs were not good enough to warrant listening to twice. 2/5, i would've enjoyed more if it was more lyrical or melodical or anything, just felt like listening to a tank drive over electric guitars
Day 13 without a female band. I had almost forgotten what women sounded like. Lots of fun, good vibes and I liked the singing. Not a super coherent album IMO, but still good (especially after the white man arc). Favourites: Fading Fast, Can't Stop The World. 4/5
I mean like it's Led Zeppelin. Idk what else to say. It's pretty good, I think if I hadn't taken a break (to grind uni assignments) I wouldn't have liked it as much. High 3/5, I wouldn't add any songs to any playlists but I liked it lol. Favourite: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (π’π’)
The start of Don't Go Near The Water is so oinky sploinky which drives my hopes for the album up. To be honest the album is just a vibe, it's not like super exceptional but it's pretty good. Favourites: Long Promised Road, Disney Girls,
Pretty funky, not a super standout album but it's enjoyable enough. I liked the instrumentals, pretty creative melodies and solid drum line throughout. The lyrics were quite repetitive in a lot of the songs though, which definitely hindered my enjoyment of the album. Most of the songs also sound like the type of songs you hear at the start of a shitty late-90s/early-2000s movie that's set in mid-80s high school while the main character (blond and does sports) gets ready for school. A little generic to be honest, definitely not something people need to listen to before they die. High 3/5 for listening experience but definitely not a must listen. If they owned a thesaurus definitely could've been a 4. Favourites: Under The Boardwalk, Hard Luck, Wednesday Week
Really chill album. I like her voice, loved the instrumentals, great vibes. Unrelated to the rating but the album art is excellent as well. The melodies are really well done, and H>A>K did a good job drawing me into the album and setting the tone. I wasn't a huge fan of the more psychedelic elements of some of the songs such as Ravenpoint, but overall still a terrific album. 4/5, could've been 5 with more of the poppy elements (just because I don't like the psychedelic parts). Favourites: Did you See Butterflies?, Slow Motion, H>A>K, The Lightning Back.
The album was so good until they started "singing" aka saying zombie over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. 1/5. The instrumental sections were good but sadly I cannot overlook 5 minutes of someone saying zombie. Genuinely the opening track ruined the album. Still listened to the rest, they just didn't change my rating.
My man said the n word in the intro so many times I thought he was Mexican for a sec (until he pronounced ask like axe). Anyway first time listening to something by Dr. Dre, I honestly can't say I fucked with it too much (sorry MLK Jr), just not my type of music. It was well produced and I can understand its impact on hip-hop and especially gangster rap so I get why it's on the list, but I don't like this album too too much. That being said, some of the songs were a vibe and nothing really killed it so I still enjoyed. 3/5. Favourites: ending of Fuck Wit Dre Day (etc.) ending because it was funny, Nuthin' But A "G" Thang, Bitches Ain't Shit.
I was expecting it to be a girl group from the album cover, was disappointed by Intro-lude, but then pleasantly surprised when they started singing. I liked the hip-hop style instrumentals on similar levels of vibiness as The Chronic, but with chiller lyrics and singing (and they said the n word less). Quite well produced; I found the bass to be a little strong, though that may have been an issue with my earbuds. It did drown out the lyrics a little so I can't comment on them (also I'm terrible at processing audio). The instrumentals were a vibe and unique, although again the bass was a little too strong, so the beat got a little repetitive by the end. Still an extremely well produced and enjoyable album, 4/5. Favourites: Creep (interestingly, the song was written by their songwriter Dallas Austin, who wrote about the member T-Boz's former boyfriend who cheated on her, but later it turned out it was also based on Austin cheating on his at-the-time girlfriend), Kick Your Game, Waterfalls
I guess they just let anyone pick up a guitar and sing these days huh... No offense but throughout the entire opening track I thought my man David Berman could NOT sing ππ sorry Jewish people. Anyone once the second song began I KNEW he couldn't sing, but somehow it stopped bothering me so much. I guess at least we know he's not using autotune. The lyrics were easily understandable even for me which is nice, and the album was pretty cohesive sound-wise and lyrically. Also he did end up killing himself so that's sad. Lowkey I almost cried listening to the album because after his suicide his dad said "Despite his difficulties, he always remained my special son. I will miss him more than he was able to realize" which is really sad, but then I saw the song titled Horseleg Swastikas and no longer felt much of anything. Sadly my man still cannot sing to save his life (sorry), but I suppose it feels a little more relatable that way because I cannot sing either. The instrumentals were pretty good, guitar + piano + Virginian remains a classic combo, the singing (if you can call it that) detracts from the album a little. 3/5, nothing special, not terrible though. No favourites really.
1/5. I would rather shit my pants at convocation than listen to this again.
Same as with The Chronic, I just don't really like hip-hop too much. I liked the instrumentals, very well produced. Again, I understand why this album is on the list (unlike Antichrist Superstar), and I can't say I vehemently disliked any of the songs. 3/5. Favourites: Walk This Way (feat. Aerosmith).
Bro lowkey this album is doodoo because I was so excited to listen to it because I loveee punk rock except then it was just a mid british man fuck you johhny rotten ππanyway like i suppose the album was overall okay it just did NOT meet expectations and after a while his voice starts becoming grating and it sounds like he's barely even singing the whole time. people will be like "music used to be so much better" and then this is what they listen to. brother where is the musicality or the singing or the lyricism or literally anything. i just can't stand this type of album where it literally has nothing going for it. i was originally gonna rate it a 3 but now im mad so fuck you 2/5. favourites were when it ended and i got to go listen to good british rock (nothing but thieves).
Very enjoyable album, perhaps the vibiest one yet. I liked almost every second of it, even though this isn't the type of music I would usually listen to. Especially a nice change from the last few British albums + Antichrist Superstar, just something very nice on the ears. Frankly I don't understand why the album is on the list, but that doesn't really change my rating (and I don't think it should lol). 4/5, but on the low endβthe rating this time is based almost fully off enjoyment rather than any deeper analysis of just about anything. No favourites, the whole album kind of blends together but in a good way.
I mean like it was ok, not something I would've liked to listen to for an hour though. Wasn't unenjoyable, just went on for too long for my tastes. He has a nice voice and the instrumentals were nice, the album was chill. 3/5.
Some of the songs were NOT funky fresh by my tastes. Overall quite a good album, but some of the songs were too slow and boring instrumentally. Still enjoyable, but it was very slow at times. At least they respected my time and only made the album 35 minutes lol. 3/5 for the good songs, 2 taken off for the slow songs and it just not being my taste in instrumentals. Favourite gotta be Green Onions.
The Beatles ruined my life. Sorry Mr McCartney but I did NOT fw this album heavy idk why lol. Some of the instrumentals were pretty good but like the album overall was just whatever
I love Billy Joel πππ what a banger album. Such a vibe, excellent songs, good instrumentals, and he has a nice voice too. 5/5 easily. Favourites: Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, Vienna, Get It Right the First Time
Lowkey I rocked with the first song heavy but then it just got worse and worse ππ the first song was actually really good though, the rest just wasn't really my style ig. Favourite: A Minor Place (obviously) 2/5
This is truly one of the rock albums of all time. Its instrumentals were playing, and the vocals were performed by one of the most singers I've ever heard. 3/5.
idk why the wii play tanks theme was on this album but ignoring that one (Parade (A Banda)) it was a good album. most of the songs were a vibe, Astrud Gilberto's voice fits her jazzy instrumentals perfectly. this album could have been a 5 i think if the album had been a little more cohesive, as i love myself a bossa nova album (laufey :^) but yeah anyway 4/5 but very high 4. favourites: Misty Roses, The Face I Love, I Had The Craziest Dream, Beach Samba, Nao Bate O Corocao
Sorry Mr Heads but I did not enjoy this album whatsoever. There was nothing wrong with it I'm just a hater. 1/5 self-titled album better
Got jumpscared by track 2 lol I was having a sublime time listening to Bookends Theme and they caught my ass lacking. Don't really like artists who half-speak half-sing during a melodic part of the song because if u cant sing just admit it and do rap or something. Except they can sing so idk why they do it. Way too many fadeouts for my tastes, but at least it sort of flows into the next song lol. Not my favourite Simon & Garfunkel album but it wasn't bad at all. 3/5 i guess. Favourites: VOICES OF OLD PEOPLE YESSSSSS PLEASEEEEEE MORE BRO YESSSSSS I LOVEEEEED IT YESSSSSS, America, Mrs. Robinson
I was filled with an inexplicable amount of dread upon reading "Live". Likely because of Made in Japan. However, I enjoyed the album a surprising amount for a live album (usually only like them if I was there). I kind of liked the singing a little bit and quite enjoyed the instrumentals. Very much so a jam, would've been better if Jerry Lee Lewis kept his mouth shut. sorry bro. 3/5, -2 for the singing lol
WE R SO BACK #7monthhiatus sorry guys anyway. I didn't really fw Rehab that much (but I already knew that), but I loved the album overall. I like the instrumentals and LOVE her voice. I can definitely hear the influences it had on artists like Adele lol. I liked the pop sound and appreciated the soul aspects, the latter didn't really work too well for me though. Sorry black people. Very fun (to listen; not lyrically) album. High 4/5! 1 point off for influence from black people! Favourites: Back to Black (lol), Tears Dry On Their Own
Overall solid rock album. I didn't really fuck with the country aspects too bad, but I liked the instrumentals overall. Decent vocals, nothing to call home about tho lel. Also I didn't like Fallen Eagle at all. Pretty good mix of slow and fast songs i guess. A little long for what it was, Blues Man definitely felt like it was dragging on by the end. 3/5, some songs were just alright otherwise might've hit 4 just for being enjoyable. Favourites: Song of Love, Jet Set (Sigh), Colorado (loved this one! good piano), Johnny's Garden
I forgot black people can say the n word so I was like yo what did he just say and then I remembered he can do that. anyway I quite enjoyed this album, good beats and unfortunately he has a pretty good voice and good writing. He should definitely take his medication. Jesus Walks is actually diabolical because why the backup singers hollering the n word with hella reverb. Funny as fuck. The New Workout Plan is a pretty creative track, I don't really like it but it's cool. Not sure what was going on in the middle of the album or at the end, so that drops the score a little. Overall 3/5, Favorites: All Falls Down, Never Let Me Down
Very chill album. Would be great for driving late at night or something idk I am not a vibe π I think the blend of male and female voices worked quite well for me. The songs got a little repetitive, as they sometimes felt like they were building up to something that never came (π) but it was still a very enjoyable album. The various instruments (mostly the xylophone in VCR) and different techniques kept the album interesting, but I think there definitely could have been more variance between the energy of the songs. Having the loudest song right off the bat is a choice, not sure if I like it. I enjoyed the solid bass line, I feel like it kept the album pretty cohesive, but maybe a little too cohesive lol. Heart Skipped A Beat baited me into thinking the energy was gonna shift up with a surprise drum beat but it ended up being nothing :/ Overall 3/5, I guess I would listen to some of the songs again but it was nothing special and there were some songs later in the album that I didn't really like (such as Fantasy!!! fuck dat). Favourites: Intro, Crystalised
Insane album tbh. A lot of it came out of nowhere and some parts were a little overwhelming (Rock You, !!!!!!!, etc.) I think I wouldn't hate a song like !!!!!!! normally and it had pretty fire instrumentals, but its placement and suddenness just didn't really make sense to me. I liked its transition into Sacrifice (which I also enjoyed). Low 3/5, some strange interludes and songs that I couldn't tell if they were interludes or what. Still a solid album though. Favourites: Sacrifice, The Seed (2.0), Break You Off. LEAST favourite: Water
Excellent album. Can never go wrong with ABBA lol. Not my favourite of their albums, as I don't really like the darker tone that it takes, but it's still very enjoyable. The opening track did a good job of setting the mood, and the rest of the album was cohesive without being monotonous. 5/5. Favorites: Head Over Heels for the interesting instrumentals, When All Is Said And Done, One Of Us, Slipping Through My Fingers (obviously)
