Harvest by Neil Young
Apr 26 2024

Great album with some incredible tracks and beautiful guitar tones. I think for some tracks the production is a little grand for my tastes.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Apr 29 2024

Got a powerful nostalgia hit from this one. I'm sure my parents had this album in our campervan when I was a child. Dire straits have plenty of tunes I enjoy but I've never been a huge fan of Knopfler's voice. This album starts really strong but becomes repetitive towards the end, doesn't leave me wanting more. Had lots of fun dancing in my kitchen to Walk of Life. Favourite tracks: Walk of Life, Your Latest Trick

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Apr 30 2024

A solid album and example of excellent songwriting. Happy for this recommendation as I haven't gone deep into Dylan and ran an album end to end in years. Incredibly simple yet effective lyrics which is of course expected with Dylan. This doesn't quite get five stars from me but damn it was close. Favourite tracks: Simple Twist Of Fate, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, If You See Her Say Hello

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
May 01 2024

I haven't listened to this album really since it came out, I was a teenager. It doesn't hit the same now, it's not really my thing. Certainly there's some decent tunes but the whole album is too much for me, some of the songs are far too long and I am not hearing good reason for them to keep going so long. The opener has some pretty misogynistic lyrics as well so I'm put off from the get go. Favourite tracks: Good Kid, Sing About Me I'm Dying Of Thirst

Bossanova by Pixies
May 02 2024

A delight! I am a long time Pixies fan but didn't consider this as one of my favourite albums until giving it a couple of more active listens. What a delightful mix of strange lyrics and organized chaos. Had to resist dancing on the bus to this! The timeline on this one was perfect for my mood and has no doubt reignited my Pixies obsession. Not even my favourite Pixies album but fantastic none the less! Favourite tunes (hard to choose): Velouria, Havalina, Rock Music

xx by The xx
May 03 2024

It's okay, starts strong but fizzles out. Very ambient but to the point where it fades into the background. The album just doesn't excite me. Fave tunes: Intro, VCR, Crystallised

Metallica by Metallica
May 06 2024

It was okay! I am a fan of some of the tracks but there's filler there. Have tried to get into Metallica a few times but it doesn't seem to stick for me. Fave tune: Sad But True

Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons
Jan 30 2026

It's a pretty standard country album, doesn't hit anything special for me. I'd rather listen to Emmylou on her own. Loved the fiddles though. Certainly not a bad listen but didn't grab me.

Fred Neil by Fred Neil

Beautiful album I hadn't heard of him and I'm glad I know now. The first songs are familiar. I love Billy Bragg's dolphin song. Shake sugaree is a treasured elizabeth cotten number and what a beautiful tribute. The last track also was a standout.

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk

Solid jazz album just not really my cup of tea.
