Amazing this came out in 1970, it was such a hard turn from the peace and love era. Great album.
Classic! Haven't listened to it in a while but it was great to get reacquainted. Love how they can go from a very somber dark quiet sound to energized and rocking several times throughout the album.
As awful as the Beatles were, Paul continues to be a proven song writer and musician and there's no exception with this album. Some of the songs are a bit cheesy but there's some absolute classics and some hidden gems on here.
I'd never heard of Femi Kuti before listening to this album so I could only guess it was some funky African music based on the cover. I was not disappointed, you can help but dance to the intoxicating beats mixed with funk/jazz vocals and horns. I really enjoyed this album.
Super funky album! It's out there and all over the place but a very cool sound on this one. It didn't blow me away but it's solid.
It has almost a classic rock/funk flavour at times, sometimes more Motown but always with a Latin and especially Brazilian sound layered throughout. I enjoyed it very much.

The king! Haven't ever listened to any of his albums before just songs here and there. I understand the impact he had on music and culture back then but the music is really just ok. He did bring us fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches though so there is that.
This debut is packed with hits that I've heard too many times but the rest of the album is pretty deep with decent tunes. Hair metal is a genre I generally look at as being vapid and cheesy but it can be good fun in the right mood and I think these guys represent some of the best of the genre.
Had the distinct pleasure of seeing Tom Petty live at the original Pemberton Music Festival in 2008 and he was absolutely phenomenal. This album is such a raw, beautiful example of one of the greatest songwriters of all time balanced beautifully by the heartbreakers backing him up. Can't like this one enough.
How did I miss this album in highschool? It's got layers of R and B, hip hop, and reggae all with that powerful voice spitting out meaningful lyrics the whole way. It's like all the sizzle of the popular artists of the time but with a big meaty steak to bite into underneath the surface.
Tender and jazzy, I enjoyed this album but it's not really a genre of music that I'm interested in. Very pleasant for background or dinner music.
I love Irish folk music and these guys have such a great blend of old and new. They can get you up off your feet dancing or sitting down quietly contemplating the beauty of their music, can't say enough about how good this album is.
Cool classic rock with british punk vocals vibe. Went off the rails here and there but I respect the experimentation.
I came in with an open mind but I just couldn't do it. Bass lines were funky but damn this guys voice is annoying and all the screaming was a bit much.
It blows my mind how many singles off this album got heavy radio play for the better part of a decade. I wish I could go back to 2004 and listen to it fresh, I think it would have been a much different experience. It was still a beautiful and layered album that gripped me the whole way through and gave the very familiar songs new context.
Trent has this incredible ability to put sounds together in a way that is disturbing yet groovy, sounds that hurt your ears and delight them at the same time. This is a remarkable album and NIN belongs in the club of nineties artists that went their own direction and found absolute gold in grimey dark places.
