Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jun 15 2024

Bit heavier than what I’m used to but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Lots of prog influences for sure; loads of time signature changes, key changes, odd chord progressions etc. Will definitely return to it in the future!

Pretenders by Pretenders
Jun 17 2024

Cool album, there were bits I fair enjoyed. It took a bit to appreciate the vocals but by the end i enjoyed it a bit more. Don’t like rating it out of 5 so I’ll rate it out of 10 from now on: 5/10

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jun 18 2024

Nice album, not the kind of things I’d ever listen to myself but it was really good. Didn’t know Prima was the voice of King Louis in the jungle book as well. A lot of it was great but felt mostly forgettable, maybe it’ll click if I listen to it again in the future. 5/10

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jun 19 2024

Honestly as much as Snoop is an absolute legend, I found I didn’t really enjoy this album. Instrumentals were funky and tight as anything which I did enjoy. Snoop is an absolutely awesome dude but I’m not too keen on his stuff, and to be completely honest most rap in general. I hope that I’ll find some rap stuff within these 1100 or so albums that I can enjoy. 4.5/10

Parachutes by Coldplay
Jun 20 2024

Great album, enjoyed this a bit more than I thought. Some tracks were a bit alright but some of them were pretty great, especially the last two. Solid album 7/10

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Aug 07 2024

It was pretty good. Improvement over the snoop dogg album I listened to for sure. Lots of really good samples, loved hearing Steely Dan in Eye Know. Sounds pretty ahead of its time; difficult to tell it was made in ‘89 - three years after Peter Gabriel’s ‘So’, for example. Will definitely return to this in the future even though I’m not a big fan of hip-hop stuff. 6.5/10

Aug 08 2024

Pretty good electronic stuff, reminds me of Aphex Twin in places. Sometimes it’s easy to forget the vocals. Solid album, but it got a little repetitive for me in places. 5.5/10

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Aug 09 2024

I’m not much of a metal/hard rock guy, but this is my kinda stuff. Never actually listened to a sabbath album in full before although I do own Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and a live LP. Will definitely be returning to this album in the near future, looking forward to the other BS albums to come… 9/10

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 10 2024

Pretty good album. If I’m gonna be honest, I felt it was a bit too long - it dragged in parts and by the end I was waiting for it to be over. Not that it was a bad album, I enjoyed it quite a lot. There was some nice softer passages which I thought nicely complimented the harder/rockier/louder parts. Overall a really good album, I will need to listen to it again in hopes that it will grow on me a bit more. 6.5/10

Technique by New Order
Aug 11 2024

Damn, this is the 8th album (of 11) from 1989-2000 I’ve been given. Something from a different time period would be nice next… It wasn’t bad but I didn’t particular enjoy a lot of it. I felt that none of the songs were all that memorable and that it sounded mostly the same. I’ll maybe give it a listen in the future. 4.5/10
