Great for Sunday afternoon listening. Great as a live album, tight musicians. Lot's of energy in the vocal performance. Highlights are Cupid and Twisting the night Away. Can start to repeat itself after the first 6 songs and sound a bit samey though.

Metallica by Metallica
Oct 22 2024

A perfect album for anyone who likes METAL, METAL and nothing but METAL. Other than the lead 3 tracks there is nothing much happening on this album. Give me St. Anger over this any day!

It took me til track 12 to realise these tracks are Soul covers of Country and Western classics. Up until then the arrangements are great but the everything sounds the same. Bye Bye Love, Don't Tell Me Your Troubles and Oh, Lonesome Me are the stand out tracks as these are the only real upbeat songs where I'd think "That's Ray Charles!"

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Oct 24 2024

Classic band, first time hearing this album. Slick tones and cool bluesy licks. About 3 tracks short of a 4 star rating though.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Oct 25 2024

Dark mood throughout, cool 80's goth vibes. The standout track for me was the closing track Clean. Other than the 2 hits, this album is a bit of a snooze fest.

Revolver by Beatles

Beautifully crafted psychedelic pop which is probably responsible bringing the genre into the mainstream, influencing generations of bands to come. Nice use of sitar, reverse guitar solo's. Great use of harmonies and string arrangements in the more classic sounding Ballads. Also.. WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE A YELLOW SUBMARINE A YELLOW SUBMARINE

Discovered this album in 2009 but never made it past the first 4 tracks. Glad I give it a full listen.

Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals
Oct 30 2024

It feels as if the drummer is just plodding along waiting for the end of each song to happen. It sounds like the Flaming Lips but done badly. Quite a boring first listen. Maybe I need to try again.

I believe this was Bob Dylan's first "electric" album which caused absolute uproar amongst the folk community at the time, with one punter comparing him to Judas at a gig. I prefer his faster style and think the additional instruments and upbeat music suit his speedy vocals well. Love the acoustic tunes too, but the outlaw sound of this album and his unique voice stand out more than any other artist of his time.

The song Low Rider by War stuck with me from years of playing on Grand Theft Auto. Never really paid much more attention to them until now. Prefer not to listen to 13 minute jam sessions but track 3 suits the genre well. Track 1 and Track 4 are the highlights of this album. It's ok!

Ramones by Ramones
Nov 04 2024

The first album of its genre. Alot of alternative/punk wouldn't exist without this album. 2 minute bangers from start to finish, very fun album. The songs could be more technical but then it wouldn't be the Ramones.

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Nov 11 2024

I enjoy listening to Flaming Lips in small doses but find their overall sound a bit too quirky. An overall cool & trippy album but can't help to think Fight Test is a blatant rip off of Father & Son by Cat Stevens. In the Morning of the Magicians is a really cool track and I enjoy the hits, love the interludes in between the songs, nice bass lines throughout but this album doesn't quite hit the spot for me.

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Nov 13 2024

A great raw album of Garage Rock bangers. It doesn't stop for a breath until the last 4 tracks, which end the album perfectly on a more chilled note. Has a similar feel to The White Stripes earlier albums but with the energy of The Stooges.
