Pretty dire fare overall
Would’ve been 3 had it not been for that inexcusable last track
Found his voice a bit grating when hitting the high notes initially. Some really good songs but nothing too exciting and tails off a bit. 3.5/5 if it were possible
Thought it started ok, first 3 songs had a bit about them but it turned at Driftwood and then got worse and worse. Soft as shite. ‘Why does it always rain on me’ encapsulates the whinging wetness of it all. The hidden track is miles better than anything on the album and gives it an extra point.
Insipid and bland
Album starts well but really plummets after the beast that is Where is my mind. All a bit wacky towards the end.
Enjoyed a lot more than I thought. Some songs I knew thy didn’t realise was by him. Cats in the Cradle better than Father and Son though
Didn’t listen to it all, but given he’s arranged this whole operation I’ll give him 5 stars. Keep up the great work KO
Nice album. Nothing special but an enjoyable listen. The album was about as remarkable as this review
Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. Just was just a load of bang average Smiths songs. One stood out as decent until the bass solo came in and stuck around for too long like an odious fart. 5/10. Round it down because of, well, Morrisey
Enjoyed this and as per other reviews have suggested, wonderful holiday listening. Wouldnt go full on giving it the Buena Vista big one like the others, as doubt I’d be able to pick it out of line up of other similar Cuban music
Love this album. It’s like the soundtrack from a yet to be made Robert Eggers film about two villages at war over accusations of witchcraft, failed crops and general weirdness in the 17th Century. Wish they’d done a 20th anniversary tour of this album as would be absolute mayhem. The album is 4/5 but the brilliant song titles give it and extra half mark and another extra half mark to juice the score.
