Popular Reviews

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman

A few lovely songs in there but the consistency of this across the whole album isn’t there for me. But beautiful vocals!!

Dec 09 2024

I really like this album - i ❤️ the melody motif/reprise and themes that are carried through all songs but also each song is still super unique! I love the sliding guitar and psychodelic sounds! 4.9/5

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Dec 10 2024

Good background music

Pretenders by Pretenders
Dec 12 2024

I really enjoyed this album, it went harder than I thought it would - particularly enjoyed space invaders! Would give a 3.8

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Dec 13 2024

I enjoyed this album - particularly the electric guitar. I love their song White Room and I feel like they’re super consistent with their sound which is cool! I probably wouldn’t put this one in high rotation but would listen to give my self a break from the frequent flying albums I have on repeat! I’d say 3.5

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Dec 16 2024

Very all American rock, which is not a genre I’m that interested in - appreciated the saxophone in most of the songs and many of them aren’t bad but they are too generic sounding for me, and not weird/wacky/funky/rock-y for me.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Dec 17 2024

There’s a lot of hype around the Smiths and this album in particular, and I’m mostly on board with some of the songs melodically, however, most of them sound identical when it comes to the “texture” of the song - including both the instruments used and Morrissey’s voice (the sound of which I can’t seem to get on board with in any case) - not a lot of contrast throughout individual songs or between each song, and with contrast comes anticipation, which I was lacking. But other than that, it’s a pleasant enough album.

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Dec 18 2024

I think I might like this equally to the Smiths album - as Julia said, he’s a little less throaty in this one, but only one or two stand outs - I think my fave from this one was Billy Budd

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Dec 19 2024

What goes on reminds me of the country calendar theme. I liked this album but not enough to save it - this is my new rating system so if I wouldn’t save more than 2 songs, it gets a 2 - which feels criminal for the Beatles 😅

The Last Of The True Believers by Nanci Griffith
Dec 20 2024

This was actually one I couldn’t make it to the end of. Not my fave genre and unfortunately each song felt like Groundhog Day 🥲

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Dec 23 2024

Wasn’t a fan of this one. Bear in mind that I love the use of psychedelic abstract and weird sounds in music but with this album, the sounds were overpowering and in your face, with nothing special about the underlying melodies, and the vocals were once again quite monotone.

Is This It by The Strokes
Dec 24 2024

I liked this album! This is the first time I’m listening to most of these songs, but I can imagine these ones wouldn’t stay in high rotation for long, so not sure I’d be adding them to my playlist but I definitely appreciate this album for what it is!

Quiet Life by Japan
Dec 25 2024

I did enjoy this album not sure if it would be in high rotation but I love one to return to once every second month. The lead singers voice is familiar too?

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Dec 30 2024

Funky and the classic Prince sound. Probably not one I’d listen to often but I appreciate it for what it is!

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Dec 31 2024

Yeah I liked this one alot but would necessarily play it in high rotation - I think reggae is for a particular mood but 100% would play again and I second the hat Julia said about it being good music to clean to!!

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra
Jan 02 2025

This album broke my heart a little but healed my soul a little too. Frank Sinatra eats and leaves no crumbs on this one. Maybe not for everyday but I created a new playlist to accomodate this sort of sound for occasional listening for when the modern world gets me down 🥲

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jan 10 2025

Break my heart and then sew it back up 😫😍 I love this album it was a pleasure to listen to it front to back once again! Thank you Thom Yorke and co - Morrissey take a leaf!

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jan 13 2025

I really enjoyed this one, probably not for everyday but really appreciated the depth and variety of sound and vocals!!

Achtung Baby by U2
Jan 17 2025

I love a selection of songs in this album but losing a point for the overall length of the album - I feel like some of these songs could have been taken out but overall a goodie indeed

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Jan 20 2025

Pleasant enough but nothing I’m running back to too quickly! Didn’t mind it for a bit of rainy day listening!

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jan 21 2025

A few I really liked in here but probably wont be on super high rotation!

Pornography by The Cure
Jan 23 2025

I love the cure and I love Robert Smith, but this one is a little too grungy for me :///

Faith by George Michael
Jan 24 2025

🤷🏻‍♀️

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Jan 31 2025

I appreciate this album but it’s just not a genre I’d revisit much - but for the genre I’d say it’s pretty good! If that makes any sense!

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Feb 12 2025

I liked this album - classic Stevie wonder but I’d put some of his other albums above this one

American Idiot by Green Day
Feb 20 2025

Boulevard of broken dreams and wake me up when September ends are the only two I like, and probably wouldn’t revisit too much in general - good effort lads!

Diamond Life by Sade
Apr 16 2025

It’s velvety, I’ll give her that. I like these songs but none of them reaaaally stand out! As controversial as that may be.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Apr 22 2025

A few lovely songs in there but the consistency of this across the whole album isn’t there for me. But beautiful vocals!!
