Moon Safari by Air
Dec 29 2024

Lowkey vibes, great for rainy Saturday afternoon. Highlight tracks were “Remember”, “Ce matin-là”.

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Dec 30 2024

Unexpectedly loved this. Not a huge hip-hop listener (mostly just lack of knowledge more than anything). I lived in Chicago when Chance the Rapper’s “Coloring Book” came out in 2016, and the album felt like it was everywhere. I knew Kanye was a key collaborator, but it was even cooler to listen to this album and here the original ideas that came to later influence Chance—the melodic qualities, chipmunk-y sound, etc. Listening brought me back home to Chicago.

90s must have been a weird time to be British.

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Jan 01 2025

Duality: I can both appreciate Buddy Holly and his significant role in the evolution of modern popular music, and also hate listening to this album.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jan 02 2025

First time I’ve ever intentionally hit the play button on a metal album. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. Some of the drum breaks were cool (like in Rat Salad). My college roommate used to listen to heavy metal while he straightened his hair in the mornings. So I guess at least this brought back a memory?

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jan 03 2025

Loved it, so many bops. Mama Said is a fav.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jan 04 2025

Janis is a kween that VOICE 💦

Life's Too Good by The Sugarcubes
Jan 05 2025

What a vibe 5/5 will be listening again

Harvest by Neil Young
Jan 07 2025

This one is a big ol’ snooze festival, though the energy did pick up as the album progressed. There’s something very lonely about the sound of this music that I don’t enjoy? I would have to be in a highly specific mood.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Jan 11 2025

Incredible voice, loved this!

The Message by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
Jan 13 2025

jammin

Opus Dei by Laibach
Jan 15 2025

Like Shostakovich but with vocals, what a strange and fun listen.

Rip It Up by Orange Juice
Jan 17 2025

Very David Byrne/Talking Heads. Great listen.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jan 18 2025

That’s jazz baby
