The Wall by Pink Floyd
Jan 07 2025

I enjoyed the first half more than the second half. I like the concept of concept albums but it often becomes more work for me in listening - which I don't mind, but it does mean I need to really, REALLY enjoy the music in order to stay along for the ride. I understand this album's importance and critical success, just didn't hit the same way for me.

Melodrama by Lorde
Jan 08 2025

I really like the production here, and it's enough to hold my interest decently well, but I just get bored with the lyrical material. Couple of good ones, but gets bland about halfway through. Favorite tracks - Green Light, Liability

In Utero by Nirvana
Jan 09 2025

Kurt Cobain's delivery is brutal. There are a couple of interesting musical moments outside of that, but overall just not my style. Favorites - All Apologies

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Jan 13 2025

Favorite Tracks - Burn Hollywood Burn, Welcome to the Terrordome, Fear of a Black Planet, Fight the Power

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jan 14 2025

Favorite songs - Marakesh Express, Guinevere

Different Class by Pulp
Jan 15 2025

It's staying in my collection for a relisten because of its variety and ability to engage me. But it gets knocked for lyricism that really turns me off.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jan 16 2025

A boring start for me, but this album picks up the pace after a few tracks and comes together really nicely. I'll be listening again at some point. Favorite tracks - Skeletons, Dull Life, Shame and Fortune, Runaway

Next by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Jan 17 2025

As usual, Glam Rock leaves me in between feeling interested in the musical arrangements and rolling my eyes at the lyrical material. There's some great horn playing on this record, which I appreciate, and probably bumps it up a rating. Favorite Tracks - Next, The Last of the Teenage Idols

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jan 18 2025

Yes, this album has a bit of Hallmark flavor to it...but the musicianship and production are top of the line. And that's just my kind of music. Playlist adds - Cold Cold Heart, Feelin' The Same Way, One Flight Down, Nightingale

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
Jan 18 2025

My first 5 of this project. I'm so impressed with the musicianship and lyricism on display - I'm also fascinated by the legacy of this record and it's influence on early rap and hip-hop. I had the stupidest smile on my face for basically the entirety of H20Gate Blues. The only knock for me is the quality GSH's vocals can sometimes be a bit of a distraction from what he's saying. But that's outweighed by all of the above. Playlist adds (if this album were streaming) - The Bottle, A Very Precious Time, Song for Bobby Smith, H20Gate Blues

Traffic by Traffic
Jan 19 2025

Playlist adds - Don't Be Sad, Cryin' To Be Heard, Medicated Goo

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Jan 21 2025

I get Elvis now Playlist adds - Any Day Now, True Love Travels On a Gravel Road, Gentle On My Mind, Wearin' That Loved On Look

Jan 22 2025

This was an awesome listen. Was not really a fan of the first Traffic album I got a few days ago, but this sound feels evolved in a way that resonates with me. Folk-rock-jazz-blues jams. Yeah. Playlist adds - Glad, Freedom Rider, John Barleycorn

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta
Jan 23 2025

I can hear the musicianship in this. The lyrics are just too much for me, and there feels like there's very little room for that musicianship to breathe in most tracks Playlist adds - Televators, Inertiatic Esp
