Master Of Puppets
Metallica
I’m familiar with this album first hearing it in high school. I still think it is their best ‘speed metal’ album although not nearly as popular as the black album a few years later because it is much less radio friendly. It brings an energy that would be hard to produce later in their career.
Master of puppets I took as about drug use has always been one of my favorites songs from them. The album is high energy and requires an hour of adrenaline to be available.
The guitars on disposable heroes is fantastic
FYI
From Spotify about the band
Metallica formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and has become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 120 million albums worldwide and generating more than 15 billion streams while playing to millions of fans on literally all seven continents. Metallica has also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009. In December 2013, Metallica made history when they performed a rare concert in Antarctica, becoming the first act to ever play all seven continents all within a year, and earning themselves a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Metallica’s twelfth studio album 72 Seasons was released on April 14, 2023

U2
I’m not sure if I previously listened to the whole. It contains some of their most famous songs. U2 always delivered a great balance between pop and rock, political and personal.
Some of the less popular songs that I enjoyed were seconds, 40 (fairly popular) and refugee

Automatic For The People
R.E.M.
I’ve never been a big fan of REM ever since seeing them live in 1985 (on tour for probably their worst album, for me, fables of the reconstruction). I never really understood the appeal. They always seemed too obvious and at the same time too obtuse, trying to be clever). This is probably the first time I have listened to the entirety of this album. Obviously it has 3+ of their biggest hits and therefore probably deserves to be on a greatest album list because of that but otherwise for me it has overplayed songs and songs that I’m not particularly enamored of. I could have this on in the background and not be annoyed but wouldn’t actively seek it out again.

Bob Marley & The Wailers
Bob Marley’s voice sounds very good at this moment. The songs are good but like a fair amount of reggae music can be somewhat repetitive. The version of no woman no cry is nice to hear and different than their more usual version from legend. Great album that I’ll listen to again

A Rush Of Blood To The Head
Coldplay
First time listening this album. Overall, very good production and good sounding quality consistently through the whole album. Couple of radio friendly songs that became huge successes. Several other good songs. They tend to go on a little longer than I love, but overall interesting album. couple of songs, which I was not familiar with that I enjoyed include green eyes and rush of blood to the head.
Enjoyed the album and would listen to it again at some point

Live At Leeds
The Who
Never heard this album before but certainly very familiar with all the songs and the who. I listened to the 6 title original album. Had to create my own playlist on Spotify. The only versions Spotify had were the extended versions. Sometimes a concise high energy lineup listens better.

Definitely will listen again. High energy live album with fantastic drums

This Is Hardcore
Pulp
Nope. I didn’t enjoy anything about this experience. I don’t have any friendly thoughts about this album or band at this point in their career. Maybe a vague less genuine and likable version of David Bowie which I assume is why this is on this list because the author has a fondness of all things Bowie. But this isn’t good for anyone. I feel like I need to take a shower after listening to this just to get it off me. They say that you can’t unsee things but I hope age will give me the kindness's of unhearing this album. 🤮
Sylvia was okay
