After the very first song on the album I said "Well, this is gonna be an interesting ride." And boy was that the best word to describe this album. Interesting. I loved the dark tone the album had, especially in the song Sour Times, but as the album went on after song 5, I felt it got weaker and weaker. Overall a pretty good album.
Favorite song: Strangers
Least Favorite: It's A Fire
Not really much to say. In my opinion, if someone were to ask me the definition of a mid album, this may be one of the first to come to mind. Didn't hate it, as it has my favorite David Bowie song, but most, I just couldn't get into. If I could I'd give it a 2.5.
Favorite Songs: Sledgehammer, Big Time
Least Favorite: We Do What We're Told
Not the biggest fan of the vocalists voice, but it does work with the album. That's about it though as far as the good. It sounds the same. All 14 records minus maybe Blitzkrieg Bop are practically identical.
Favorite song: Blitzkrieg Bop
Least favorite: Chain Saw
This. Album. Blew. Not much to say other then that. Started off okay I guess, and just went downhill from there. Would've had a 2, but that last song just ruined everything.
1.25
Favorite Song: Dirty Boys
Least Favorite: Heat
Do all the songs on the album sound relatively the same? Yes. Does it work? 100%. Not a disliked song on the album.
3.5
Favorite Song: Natural Mystic
Least Favorite: The Heathen maybe?
I loved this album. I loved the fun sound it had, how catchy most of the songs were, and of course, Mr. Blue Sky. Only reason it doesn't get a 5, is for it being a little longer then I'd prefer, but it was worth the hour and ten most of the time.
4.75
Favorite Songs: Turn to Stone, Sweet Talkin' Women, Across the Border, Starlight, Mr. Blue Sky, Birmingham Blues, Wild West Hero
Least Favorite: The Whale
I came in with not so high expectations, and the album honestly surprised me. This album is timeless. Still holds up today. The harmonica is a bit much at times, but overall, a solid album. 3.5 for me
Favorite Songs: Blowin' in the Wind, Down the Highway, Corrina, Corrina
Least Favorite: A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
I will give this album a lot of credit for popularizing that signature 90s rap cadence. As far as how popular the album is itself, its not very big. It did however pave the way for a lot of big 90s rap groups like Mobb Deep (my favorite) with this sort of style. This was one of the first to do it so it gets its flowers for it. I liked their flow, but the beat selection was a bit too 90s for me. There were some really good songs on this album, and I am personally a fan of the simple, yet effective cadence. Solid 3.75 for me.
Favorite Songs: Step in the Arena, Execution Of A Chump, Beyond Comprehension, Take A Rest
Least Favorite: What You Want This Time?
I'm happy this album was short. I'm happy it was short because of how bad I wanted it to end. The vocals were annoying, and everything was very repetitive. I did like some of the heavy bass lines, especially at the beginning of the first song, so it gets some pity points for that. This album gets a "The Next Day" by David Bowie out of 5.
1.25
Favorite Song: Cashing Out just for the cool bass line
Least Favorite: Everything else
At times it was fun, but definitely nothing I'd put on myself. That's all I got.
1
Favorite Song: Genius of Love
Least Favorite: The Rest of the album
This album was good. It brings back childhood times of getting in the car with my grandma, as she has the 60's on 6 channel playing. The singers voice is good as well, but I'd have to be in a certain mood to listen to something like this.
3.25
Favorite Songs: Someone to Love Me, Beautiful Brown Eyes
Least Favorite: Won't You Give Him (One More Chance)
Some fun songs on the album. Great instrumentals, but his voice isn't my favorite. Overall a pretty good album.
Favorite Songs: Gumboots, Graceland, You Can Call Me Al, That Was Your Mother
Least Favorite: I Know What I Know
This album was fine. The first 6 "songs" were alright, but the highlight for me was Calvary. I loved some of the sounds it had, some of the cords, so it being 13 minutes didn't have too much of a bad taste for me. Did get weird at times, but still the best on here for me. That Happy Trails cover was terrible though. And you name the album after it? Buh. Overall, pretty solid listen.
2.5
Favorite Song: Calvary
Least Favorite: Happy Trails
This album was pretty good. Sounded a little different then what I'm used to with the Bee Gees, (Mainly just Stayin' Alive) but I did enjoy it. Solid 3.5
Favorite Songs: Israel, Trafalgar
Least Favorite: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
I didn't mind this album, but it just wasn't my kinda music. Last few songs were a lot longer then they needed to be. There were some good songs though, mainly at the beginning. Album just wasn't me.
Favorite Song: oh baby
Least Favorite: black screen
This album surprised me. It started off meh, but picked up after Bang A Gong. The singers vocals are annoying at times, but the instrumental makes up for it at times. Solid album.
3.25
Favorite Songs: Bang A Gong (Get It On), Rip Off
Least Favorite: Cosmic Dancer (why does he say dance like that?)
This album was great. I don't think it had a bad song, let alone a meh song. Van Morrison has a very distinct voice, where it's either you love it, or you hate it. Me personally, I love it. The saxophone as well, at times felt necessary. It did feel a but repetitive at times, but the style I liked, so it wasn't a problem.
Favorite Songs: And It Stoned Me, Moondance, Into the Mystic, These Dreams Of You, Glad Tidings
Least Favorite: None
I saw Slipknot on here and I already knew I would like it, but not this much. This album has EVERYTHING. You want heavier metal like Iowa? They got it. You want more lyrical songs with their style? They got it. You want that nu metal feel? They got it. It just has it all. Corey Taylor's voice, whether he's screaming, singing, talking in an interview, its personally one of my favorites. The drum parts are fun, the guitar parts are fun, this album is just amazing. The only reason it doesn't get a perfect score for me, is the fact their first 2 albums are better.
4.75
Liked Songs: All of them
Least Favorite: None
This album was pretty solid. The vocals were a bit at times, but the instrumentals were good. The last 2 songs were longer then usual, but they were kinda split up, so it didn't drag, which I also liked. Overall pretty good.
3.5
Liked songs: I Wanna Be Adored, I Am the Resurrection
Least Favorite: Fools Gold
The album was pretty bad. Some of the songs on this album had no part being here, like "High 5" or whatever "Computer Rock" was. It did have some okay songs, but other then that it wasn't the best. Or even close.
1.5
Liked Song: Hotwax
Least Favorite: High 5 (Rock the Catskills)
This album was alright. If I was going on a late night drive, or studying for a test, some of these songs would be good for that. No songs stood out though. Solid album
Favorite Song: Crystallized
Least Favorite: Night Time
This album was alright. The highs were pretty high, but the lows were rock bottom. Songs like "Rock Music" or "Havalina" were really good. The song "All Over the World" though, was the worst song by far. The vocals just made me cringe a bit. I think overall, I liked the album more then I didn't, so for that, it gets a 2.75.
Liked Songs & Least Favorite: Listed Above
I really liked this album. It does help that this album has my 2 favorite Aerosmith songs on it, but the rest of the album did not disappoint either. Great album.
Liked Songs: Back In the Saddle, Last Child, Sick As A Dog
Least Favorite: Nobody's Fault
This is an album that you need to be in a very specific mood for. Id say it was alright, and although this album is iconic,
the length of the songs are a lot longer then I'd like. Some songs did do a good job at switching something up mid song, mainly the first 2 songs, while others just kept it the same for 10 minutes straight. Overall, I didn't love the listen, I just liked it.
3.25
Favorite Song: Chameleon
Least Favorite: Vein Melter
I genuinely don't know how to describe what I just heard. It was really weird, but for some reason, I kinda liked it. Didn't LOVE it, but it was really good at times. "Dirge" was definetly a high point for me, and a great way to start off the album. This album feels like a guilty pleasure. I don't know why I like it, I just do.
Liked Songs: Dirge, Neptune City
Least Favorite: Aisha
I feel like if every song was like song 1, this would be a solid 4 for me. "The Murder Mystery" was pretty long, odd, and boring, but songs like "Candy Says" and "After Hours" were amazing. Those 2 just fit the vibe I wanted for the album, and at times i felt like I got it, but others, I didnt. Overall, it was a solid album.
Liked Songs and Least Favorite: Listed Above^
Yeah this album was what I expected. Nothing but heaters. Normally on an album, there's a song or 2 that are meh or bad, but this album was just good or great all around.
Favorite Song: Trampled Under Foot
This album was alright. It felt way too quick. The instrumentals were really good, but some of the vocal choices were pretty meh. Overall, I can appreciate this album, it's just not for me.
Favorite Song: Neighborhood Girls
Least Favorite: Cracking
I felt this album was relatively average. No great songs, but no songs I hated. Middle of the pack all around.
Solid 2.5
Favorite Song: I.G.Y
Least Favorite: The Goodbye Look
These songs are literal earworms. Doesn't matter how basic or repetitive they are, they're super catchy. There's a lot of heat at the beginning, but the levels do get a bit worse as the album goes on. I also have some bias towards this album, because some of the British YouTubers I'd watch growing up would have some of these songs as background music. All bias aside though, this album is just super fun.
Solid 3.25
Favorite Songs: Breathe, Diesel Power
Least Favorite: Fuel My Fire
This album was alright. Every song was pretty good, besides the opening, and closing tracks, while "Super Stupid" was in like 5 leagues of its own. Overall it was just another solid album.
2.5
Favorite Song: Super Stupid
Least Favorite: Wars of Armageddon
I genuinely don't know how anybody can dislike this album. It's just such a vibe all the way through. Of course you can dislike some parts of it, for instance I'm not a fan of reprises, so the reprise wasn't my favorite, but I get why it's there. I can see why people would dislike "Within You Without You" because it's something different, but I personally liked it. "A Day In The Life" was quite possibly the weirdest song I've heard all year, but there were parts I enjoyed about it. Now I've always had the opinion that The Beatles are SUPER overrated. Did listening to this album change that? A bit. I still think they are, but it slightly moved the needle for me. It is amazing how influential The Beatles have been, with their legacy still sparking conversations even after more than 60 years.
4.25
Favorite Song: When I'm Sixty Four
Least Favorite: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)
I'm not the biggest fan of live albums. I would much rather listen to a studio version of a song, than the live version. I will give this album some credit, because it had some cool transitions, and a sick extended drum solo in Sha-La-La. Overall though, its not anything I'd listen to on my own.
Solid 2.75
Favorite Song: Sha-La-La
Least Favorite: Are You Ready
