Not the album I remembered. More delicate. Kids still goes hard. Other stuff is a little mid. Artful mid 00s poseur indie. Melodious. Was expecting nostalgia but didn't really get it.

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters

A band I like but do not love and this is one of their most mediocre efforts. Plodding and samey. All at one level. 2.something if I had the choice.

Abraxas by Santana

Most enjoyable. Strange. An excellent piece of musicianship. Probably drugs required? Sadly lacking on listen. 3.8

Palo Congo by Sabu
Mar 20 2025

Really interesting. Love some Cuban and this feels influential, seminal. Amazing for 1957. Energy, colour, contrast. Fun. Wonderful musicianship. Playful. 4.2

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Mar 24 2025

A truly brilliant album. Was aware of his work but never really explored it but absolutely loved this. Will be getting many relistens.

One of the greatest of all time. In my Top 10, maybe even Top 5. Just so many great songs, stories. Masters of War remains one of the great protest songs and ever relevant. Don't think twice is another all timer. 5 isn't enough.

First two tracks are classics. Generally, this is a genre I have little interest in, but those are undeniable. I feel there isn't much variation to the album, but then it was fairly pioneering in its approach, so perhaps that makes sense. The intro to Track 1 may be one of the strongest I've heard. Not for me

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Mar 27 2025

This is not my thing, but mainly cos of the vocals. The guitar and drums are technically impressive - I think I liked it more the FatBoi though, but a similar feeling. Samey. 1.8

The Wildest! by Louis Prima

I love this. So much to like. Fun, energetic, sexy, musicianship. Another clearly influential album. Top shit from this bastard 4.4

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell

Amazing artist. Good album, probs not my fave of hers but really enjoyed it. So many imitators who don't even come close.

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Apr 02 2025

Not what I expected, quite weird really. Pretty alright with that though. Another artsy album, strange mixture of tones, textures and vocals. Like his radio show too. 3.3
