1001 Albums Summary

Longtime favorite. Shaped my music listening and writing for decades. Powerful enough that I appreciated the follow-up album The Final Cut, even considering it the sequel to The Wall.

Phenomenal album. For me, the last of his truly interesting works.

Great album. Legendary title track. More restrained than their previous albums but still distinctly theirs.

A dark swan song for these pop pioneers. Excellent and moody, with ebon textures and lyrics at times both thoughtful and chilling. It used to play on repeat in my car. Highly recommended.

Overrated.

Masterpiece. Maybe Rush's best album. Truly iconic. "Tom Sawyer," "Red Barchetta," and "Camera Eye" are forever bangers.

Startling debut by Jimi Hendrix. A masterpiece of guitar virtuosity only surpassed by Electric Ladyland. Undeniable classic.

Absolute banger. What they mean when they say all killer no filler. Their most famous hits are on here but don't sleep on the other songs on this album. It's all greatness.

A true heavy metal classic. R.I.P. Ozzy.

The keystone of progressive rock. Absolutely brilliant. My introduction to the genius of Robert Fripp. A luscious, propulsive masterpiece.

Absolute classic. Their second best album next to Thick As A Brick in my opinion. Excellent bangers anchored by the trifecta that are the title track, Cross-Eyed Mary, and Locomotive Breath. Actually, depending on my mood, I would say this is Jethro Tull's best album, but TAAB speaks more truth to me. Let's just call it a tie.

Overrated. Is there greatness here? Yes, with Ted, Just Admit It, Mountain Song, & Jane Says, but the rest I just found to be a boring slog.

The group's second best album. A stunning precursor of the greatness to come in the future. I know what I like indeed.

People love this album. I don't. It's got its moments of greatness, but it's not Quadrophenia.
