Definitely has a classic punk feel to it with some absolute classics you may have heard in various bits of media. I definitely agree that it becomes a bit overplayed by the end and feels like one long song. I believe this album is an earlier one though so it's understandable that they'd define their sound a bit more later on. Still an enjoyable experience nonetheless
Not really my kind of music unfortunately, maybe it's just a bit slow and not engaging enough for me. I liked Disco 2000 but all of the songs have quite a weird undertone on first listen, don't know whether I misunderstood the meanings but it's just a bit creepy?
I think I enjoyed this album overall more compared to the others I listened to so far. There was no specific one song I thought stood out though which was the main downfall for me (I didn't massively enjoy pale blue eyes). The sounds feels quite similar to the Beatles though which is why I mostly enjoyed it
Amazing album! I've listened to this album many times before and Simon and Garfunkel's narrative storytelling is really interesting throughout the album, matching the music to the story. They also have a knack for sticking in your head and being engaging to listen to!
Love the Beatles, love Abbey Road. Honestly a masterclass in song writing which stands the test of time
Really enjoyed this, I can understand why this album really took off in the 90s. This is not usually my kind of music and usually I prefer songs with more lyrics and narrative but Moby has done a really good job of combining simple lyrics and in depth sounds for really enjoyable listening!
Very funky but also quite strange, especially the last song. I was definitely bopping to some of the songs but the album feels a bit unbalanced, maybe even unfinished? It's quite short and I'm not sure some of the elements really make sense in some the of the songs. Still had a good time nonetheless
Wish I paid a little more attention when listening. Just feels like classic foo fighters stuff which is very good at bringing the hype! I would rate this higher than all 3 star ones but lower than 4 star ones
Really enjoyed this, I definitely enjoyed American Music Club's sound! The album was kinda fire tbh and western sky has a really nice feel to it
You can understand why Disney decided on Randy for a lot of their movie music! I think his distinct voice and use of acoustic/orchestral instruments is really good. Despite that, the album was maybe a bit too slow for me and didn't have enough distinction for me to remember any standout songs
Didn't really enjoy it to be honest and not super sure what to make of it. Sorry I'm phoning it in today so I can listen to the next album
Such a great voice! Combined with punchy music makes for a great album!
Pretty great! Not sure what I was expecting but probably not that! The vibraphone/accordion combo made me feel like I was in a professor Layton game
Really really interesting and very punchy (which I've been talking about a lot though). I very much like the use of sound in this with unconventional sounds being played into tracks to give a strong feel to them
Yeah pretty decent but nothing I wouldn't expect from that era
Absolute classic, has many of their top hits which honestly have a great star quality to them. I'm not a massive fan of the other tracks as it kinda gets a bit samey but nonetheless a really fun listen
Yeah this was pretty weird, not really sure what was going on here and skipped the last song anyways. The line 'hi boys and girls, my name is Jimmy Carl Black and I’m the Indian of the Group.' is kinda legendary though
Pretty good album which (I think) is quite satirical on love songs. The whole album includes more orchestral instruments than normal which kinda gives the songs a very theatre musical/movie music feel. Definitely some great lyrics hidden in there
Great, love the extended guitar solos! Purple rain is obviously a classic. It's definitely better than a lot of the 3 star albums but didn't blow me away. It still was super enjoyable though
Good but nothing special in my eyes. Some nice melancholy orchestral instruments definitely bring the feel of the album to life
Fine, some classic songs but I've always preferred what's the story
The mix of electronic and cabaret style music does not blend well when listening to this album. Just weird vibes all round
Good but nothing too revolutionary for me
Really good but maybe some of the longer guitar bits dragged a bit and the lyrics probably left something to be desired. When the music hit well though, it certainly got you going
I mostly know Leonard Cohen from his performance or Hallelujah. I don't think his voice comes through in the same way here but there's definitely lots of deep songwriting to delve into
The more I think about this album, the more I really like it! I think the blend of confessional style rap and smooth background beats combine this into a worthwhile listen. Definitely enjoyed listening while working as well
Quite fun for sure but not really my style of music. Certainly didn't drag on though so feels like a mid 3 star
Tempted to go 4 here but the combination of jazz music and her fantastic voice really bring the songs alive! More than understandable why she became such an icon despite having such a small repertoire
Fine, Layla is really good but maybe just wasn't in the right mood for listening
It's Latin dance music which is entertaining enough but not quite as interesting without the dancing I think
Some classic britpop with some well known tracks
Interesting concept album, definitely more my kind of high tempo heavy guitar music. I think the main singer's voice takes centre stage here because it is spectacular! There's clearly some very deep lore to this album but it's behind like 20+ page explanation which I'm not really up for. The album just needed more interesting hooks because it certainly feels like nothing quite stands out
First half was good, second half was not. I enjoyed the short interludes between the songs
