A more understated album without any big set pieces, and I enjoyed the introspection. For me "So Hard" was the obvious highlight; a forgotten gem. I do love an orch hit.
I frequently take Girl out for a spin, but I had forgotten how good Guero was as a whole. Front half stronger than back half; alongside Girl, E-Pro, Hell Yes and Scarecrow are standouts.
Far from my usual cup of tea, but enjoyed it more than I expected. "Down Yonder" was great, and I enjoyed the nod to "Home on the Range" in the middle of "O'er the Waves".
"Give It Away" marked the very first time I became aware of the Chili Peppers. Funky as funk. A great summery record, one for the ages.
This felt eclectic and a bit chaotic to me, and didn't really grab me overall. "You're the Best Thing" remains a decent track but isn't representative of the album and can't save it on its own.
Absolute stand-out classic. Beth Gibbons's haunting vocals will live with me forever. Sounds as fresh now as it did 1994.
With the iconic album cover, I think I expected more from this record than I ended up getting. Fine, but not an all-timer for me.
A record that is very easy to listen to and get lost in for three quarters of an hour... Side 1 is just incredible!
An unexpectedly enjoyable bop along.
Well, Janis Joplin has _a voice_. Classic, summery, bluesy rock. I imagine they were incredible to see live.
Whole Lotta Love is a banging opening and, while an enjoyable listen, ultimately this record didn't grab my attention fully.
