David BowieThe Starman gives us more score than pop music album on this as he began his sobriety with a new approach to music. It doesn’t come close to his prior work (Station to Station) which is one of my favorite albums of his.

Paul Simon’s comeback album features multiple genres and quirky lyrics that we all know and love him for since his days with Simon & Garfunkel. There are a few tracks that I’ll always love (You Can Call Me Al) but this album never really drew me in as much as the critics praise it. An enjoyable listen. 3/5
Biased soul and funk fan here saying this record is great! Listening to this album just feels right (idk if that makes sense). I love the musicality, groove and falsettos throughout this album a lot. I'm not sure if they're necesarrily re-inventing the wheel at all on this album but the feeling you get while listening is undeniable. 4/5
Listening to Fela Kuti can be weird sometimes as a priviledged middle-class white guy, especially if you knew what this guy went through. You can hear the pain and freedom-fighting in all of his music. This one is no exception. The soul, jazz and afro-beat all hit like Fela's music usually does. However, multiple 10+ minute tracks like the ones on this album can be tough especially when all our attention spans have shrunk. Overall I'm glad I heard this one. 3/5
Hugh provides us a solid jazz album with an array of sounds displaying a range of emotions. There’s a good mix of upbeat and somber tunes for all types of jazz enjoyers. There’s some superb piano playing throughout and the drum soloes on “Blues for Huey” really stand out. There’s a few tracks on here I’ll definitely come back to.
This one was not for me. There is some great musicianship throughout many of the tracks but nothing really grabbed me.
Solid jazz album. Nothing really stands out to me. It’s Herbie Hancock and sounds like him too.
The kings of swamp rock dropped an album with iconic tracks that have stood the test of time and are forever a part of American culture. Great mix of Blues, rock and R&B. 3.5/5
Miles Davis + John Coltrane = Timeless American art. Plain and Simple. They own a color.
A rock and roll classic that heavily influenced The Bealtes (crickets - beatles get it?). Great songwriting and the second half of this album really slaps to me. Buddy Holly's songwriting and guitar playing was ahead of it's time. Crazy that he died at 22.
Joni > Dylan iykyk lol but seriously there are few artists who can come close to prime Joni Mitchell. Peak musicianship and incredible story-telling. Her voice is always so captivating. So many genres and so many special moments always bring me back to this one.
I appreciate the musicianship (xylophone went crazy on this one) but not anything I would return to. Shoutout to Montreux though.
American Girl is one of my favorite Petty songs. Solid album. Anything That’s Rock and Roll stands out too.
Your welcome The Strokes. One of my top 5 most New York sounding albums. Tom Verlaine is missed man
