Shakermaker incredible. Rest of the album eh. I really dont like liams voice. He has this way of saying "imaginatieun" which i find really over the top, and somewhere between pretentious and annoying.

The rockier cuts on this are not great but i get she's attempting to be like "i can do all sides of pop music" and this was still the numetal/pop punk era so i get it but they're just rough. The rnb/pop stuff tho, goddamn some of this stuff is wonderful

At the time i bet this album was crazy. But as with a lot of albums from this era, it's another example of British artists using black music unheard of by the greater British population as a shortcut to sounding "experimental". The better songs are the one where he isn't trying to sound Jamaican but fuck those songs where he's trying to sound Jamaican are awful.

Idk man I bet in 88 this was really something Lyrics are often very in your face about what is being discussed, which is definitely a creative choice to emphasize the importance and sort of "unmask" the sort of violence discussed. But more often than not it comes off unpoetic. Lyrics often do not flow with the rest of the instrumentation as if they are being imposed on to the instruments rather than flowing with them
