Yeezus by Kanye West

Raw and biting. I love the way every track sounds, the unconventional metallic sampling and the unkempt energy it brings. The slower more mellow tracks would probably be fantastic while high. That being said, the whole album is quite vile, the lyrical content is often incredibly womanising and full of ego. Its bad enough to the point that it probably should knock it down to a 2*, but I'm gonna keep it at 3 for now

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Jun 26 2025

Each song has its own charming and mysterious world. Maybe I don't quite understand them yet, maybe my ability to focus is too worn down to really absorb it all, but I want to come back to them. Instrumentation was vibrant and diverse, particularly the different instrumental inflections in Master's Song

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Jun 27 2025

Very smooth, Sarah's voice is astounding. As a straight-through live recording it's pretty slick with no real fluff or filler in between. particularly like stairway to the stars and how high the moon where she "forgets" all the words. Can get a bit samey as it's 90% ballads

Jun 30 2025

Am honestly a bit bored, it's all quite samey and while Johnny's voice is wonderfully rich, the lyrics don't really carry these songs. Apparently these are mostly covers which almost make it worse, like this is all you did?

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Jul 01 2025

Consistently strong throughout but none of the songs necessarily blow me away (even California Dreamin), just a simple selection of great tunes

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jul 02 2025

Unfortunately a bop, was gonna rate this lower due to the lyrical content (often p repetitive, surface-level and VERY misogynistic) but damn I'd be lying if I said they weren't a lil catchy. The production is CLEAN, instrumentals go crazy hard, and there's some sick hooks in there

Jul 03 2025

The Beatles meet Jack Stauber. Delightful :) (I had previously rated this 5* but had to knock it down out of gut instinct, it's still incredibly charming but in a very kitsch box-of-sweets way)

Jul 07 2025

Out of all the artists I've reviewed, these guys are the ones I reckon are most improved when seen live. Something about the sound world clearly lends itself so well to a visual performance. The overall vibe is fab, I really enjoy how layered the album sounds as a whole. That being said, it all kinda melds into one timeless clump of funk, so doesn't work quite as well as an 'album' of sorts

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Jul 09 2025

This album would slap if I was a 14 year old who just finished school for the summer. I'm not, but it's fun to try and enjoy the album as if I was. What are half of these songs about

Searching For The Young Soul Rebels by Dexys Midnight Runners
Jul 10 2025

Honestly I like the overall sound but the singing style frustrates me to no end. It's basisally impossibls to tell what is being said and it's purely because of this falsettoey-slidey way he sings everything, and clearly the lyrics mean a lot just by looking at them, so I'm a little baffled. Maybe it's a feature of the genre idk but it grates me

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Jul 11 2025

Delightful. Minimalist-esque which I always rock with. A fun whistle-stop tour of... something. Not entirely sure what. But it's lovely, its memetic in the good way. Could do so many tasks to this soundtrack

Jul 14 2025

I would've loved to be there. What an atmosphere!! Also appreciate how he says the lyrics just before the audience need to sing them so everyone can take part. Wish they did that at all concerts. His voice is also just immaculate and it's all so fun

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jul 15 2025

What is this random mf album I've never heard of it in my li- ohhhhhhh I know this song. Pretty good, laid back, swanky.

Pornography by The Cure
Jul 17 2025

Honestly pretty forgettable. I like its sort of smoky allure and the instrumentation is often great but idk man. I can't really make out the vocals half the time and I just don't see myself revisiting it

Jul 18 2025

Listened a while ago and I honestly remember nothing from it so it gets 2

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Jul 21 2025

Honestly quite nice. There's a strange air to it, particularly from 'In the Ghetto' as well as just thr album title but it's probably well meaning? Lovely album to drift out to

Violator by Depeche Mode
Jul 22 2025

Kept zoning out while listening to this but in a lovely way. There's something really smokey and sleek about this album. The lore behind Personal Jesus is great too
