White Ladder
David GrayReally boring. The music didn’t add anything to his voice and every song was sung the same way. Some catchy songs though. Will never listen to this again on purpose.

Janis Joplin’s “Pearl” showcases her talent, but sounds more like collection of songs than album. Makes sense given the posthumous release. The backing band is great, and the name “Full Tilt Boogie Band” is kickass. Despite Janis Joplins talent and influence this is not my style at all. I have no doubt it was more impactful to those hearing it before the decades worth of music made afterwards. It all sounds the same to me, the highlights being “Cry Baby”, “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Mercedes Benz” (which I remember my Mom singing, as I inherited my love of Porsches from my Dad).
Sublime
Better and better the more I listened to it. The way it takes shape as he plays was pretty amazing.
Hated every second of it. Dont care how original it is or that it’s 60 yrs old. I’ve heard so much better and worse music with this sound prior to listening to this that it really fails to impress. If you told me it was written in the 90s for a drug flashback scene in a shitty movie I would totally believe you.
Just beautiful.
Not that enjoyable to listen to. Maybe they actually are cooler than everybody else, just sounds like songs that arent good are the point?
Pretty good, nowhere near Funeral IMO
Pretty boring. Maybe in 1997 it was something new, but if you’re going to call yourselves the Dandy Warhols you gotta come stronger than that.
I enjoyed this much more than I expected. This is an album, songs don’t necessarily stand up in their own. I was surprised at the range and musicality.
I think if you’re a big Van Morrison fan you’d really love this. I like him enough, and this was a great live recording, but didn’t knock my socks off. Kind of gave me James Brown for white dad vibes though.
Can’t take a whole album of this guys voice, but they do have some good sounds and good songs.
