Ambient 1/Music For Airports
Brian Eno
This album is an enormous surprise. It's insanely relaxing, and has a depth of sound that keeps it interesting even though it's technically simple sounding to me. Crafted with care by a mile. To hear it for the first time nearly 50 years after the fact does add some interesting perspective on the 4th track sound options. Almost a 'Close Encounters' vibe in it's final part.

Green River
Creedence Clearwater Revival
It's such a comforting sound. I'm finding that besides the hits like Bad Moon Rising, and Green River that Wrote A Song For Everyone was my initial favorite.
I've just hit the final track and am VERY surprised by this cover. The Night Time Is the Right Time sounds really neat coming from this clunky bluesy gritty band. The in your face backing vocals is a really interesting flavor compared to the Ray Charles version!
On my second listen through 'Commotion' is a killer. That driving line downward during the chorus is awesome.

Neon Bible
Arcade Fire
I haven't heard this album much since it's release and subsequent years when it was so popular in the early 2010's. Honestly without the bias of hearing it constantly everywhere it's really good. The vocals are still suspect to me as it's one of those signs of the times where everyone was using those wavering high vibrato styles, but it's good. Intervention might be one of the best songs of the generation. It's so big.
On the second listen Keep the Car Running is a banger.
I think the craziest thing about this album is that it was the advent of an entire generation of music in the indie genre. Basically everyone tried to capture this exact sound after it came out. There's about 10 years of indie pop and rock that mirrors this sound scape

Definitely Maybe
Oasis
I never really listened to Oasis a whole lot, and in the first couple of tracks I'm reminded that this sound really might not be for me. The songs are long and uninteresting.
This feels like one of those albums that if I caught at the right time would be life changing kind of sounds. Married With Children is a nice song and the tone is scratchy and rough which feels like an appropriate tone for when Oasis was crushing it in the 90's.

Pink Moon
Nick Drake
This is an all time album for me. Effortless whimsy and beautiful song writting. Makes me feel at ease for the full 28 minutes and has a lot of nostalgia along with it. Feels like a sleep drive in the country at night which is probably why volkswagen used it in their ads all those years ago. This is a really great album and Nick was gone far too soon. RIP Nick Drake.
I'm on my 3rd listen through today, and it's just magic from top to bottom. Horn is such a beautiful guitar melody.

Either Or
Elliott Smith
I've always loved this album. When I first came across Elliott in college this was the first I heard. Between the Bars, Angeles, Say yes. So many great tracks on here. This might be one that you have to find at the right time, and I did so it gets a 5 from me.

Brothers
The Black Keys
I'm about 4 tracks in. It's got some all time popular hits on the first half of this album. However I'm feeling really disconnected from it, and I'm wondering if that is because so many movies, commercials and other content has used these tracks for their ads and whatnot. Like this album suffers from the over saturation in culture since it's release more than most would.
It's such a cool gritty sound, but at early in this listen i'm feeling unattached from the songs.
I take back my earlier sentiment as the 3rd act of this album is frickin awesome. Just big time D kickers all the way.

Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1
George Michael
This is my first earnest listening to any George Michael that isn't 'Faith'. Honestly this album comes out of the gate with a very unexpected emotional powerhouse and I'm excited to hear the rest.
Obviously 'Freedom!' is a banger, but I also really loved 'Heal the Pain'
I don't know what I was expecting
'They Wont Go When I Go' Holy crap...
figures it's a Stevie Wonder cover. So much good in this track.
Honestly I'm on my second listen through and it's just such a beautiful record. The soundscape is rich and the songs are full of emotional writing. It's got a flavor of early 90's nostalgia and is still timeless songwriting. Feels like it could've come out a week ago and 30 years ago just the same minus a few production quality give aways

Marquee Moon
Television
There's some interesting instrumentation and soundscape choices that I wasn't expecting. The sound has a punch that I really like, but the vocals are a bit grating. Maybe like someone doing a really exaggerated Mick Jagger impression. I do really like the music though. really fun, unique song writing.

Really enjoying this record. Reminds me of Yes in a few sections, but with the scratchiness of the south. Really neat sound.

Am I crazy or is this album insanely boring? Even Money for Nothing is 4 minutes too long. The hits are enjoyable, but otherwise this album aint for me.
