Electric Warrior
T. Rex
I liked this album, which makes sense given that it was their debut into more pop rock. I don’t know if it’s just me but I wish the vocals were turned up a tad throughout though, at times they were hard to make out.
Songs I liked enough to add to Spotify:
Girl
Bang a Gong (Get it on)

Frank Ocean
Gotta admit, I have heard of Frank Ocean but had never (knowingly) listened to him- I definitely thought he was a punk guy 😂
I didn’t hate this album and I can respect it for being an interesting mix of genres but I can’t say I understand the revolutionary hype. It’s a good album, don’t get me wrong, but it t wasn’t enough to turn me into a fan.

I didn’t realize this was The Album with The First #1 hit on it. And, because I am a child born smack in the middle of the 80s, I tend to think of VH automatically as “lame” so I tried very hard to just listen to the music with no preconceived “ew, 80s hair metal” feels (because VH is, as I have learned, not hair metal and it often mislabeled as such.)
I like Panama 100% more than Jump, but I do think the synth+whatever bass thump happens in Jump is pretty intriguing- Panama is more fun to sing along with and the guitar solo is pretty sweet. Hot for Teacher is another fun one but my least favorite of the big three on this album- it’s fast paced fun but I vaguely remember the music video freaking me out because I just remember David Lee Roth’s face yelling at me about my teacher?
I don’t honestly remember if my dad was a VH fan- as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized my dad loved glam/hair rock and not necessarily rock n roll inclusively-so I find myself questioning whether I ever truly had the well-rounded musical experience I once believed I did. 😂 I don’t think I grew up with VH.
The other songs on this album, are fine. I understand why they didn’t get radio time, they’re just kind of white bread songs.

This album is a very specific time in college- I love her voice. I just want to open a speakeasy/jazz club now.

Brian Eno
Woah, I had no idea! I really enjoyed this one, it was really interesting. But had this album came six months ago I don’t know if I would have been able to get through it.

Make Yourself
Incubus
I know every word.
This album means a lot to me, despite me not being a mega fan of Incubus.
There’s a string quartet that covered this album and I Miss You is one of the most beautiful songs on it.
