Solid Air
John MartynFirst time listen. I enjoyed it more than expected.
First time listen. I enjoyed it more than expected.
Classic. Fun jams. Party music but I would say, great in a mix but the whole album at once is too much funk for me.
I get it. They changed the world. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.
Not a fan but mad respect. Neil is a good song writer but I can only take small doses.
Absolutely epic.
have not heard of this artist but am enjoying the chill French vibes
Yes
My teacher in 7th grade used to play this record for class to calm all of us sugar overdosed kids to get us to calm TF down. I learned to truly appreciate it. Now it gives me fond memories every time I hear just one song off it.
pioneers of prog rock? sure, I give you that. They probably, inadvertently, had a major impact on me but how I got from Yes to TOOL is another story. In the end, I cannot say I am a fan.
Okay, now we are getting into the terrible music that I enjoy and has shaped my interest in music. This Metal Box is mostly put together with songs from Second Edition, which is one of my favorites, but the album, Flowers of Romance (most certainly an acquired taste) introduced me to producer/drummer Martin Atkins. I immediately fell into the PIL trap and became a devoted fan of First Issue and Second Edition. John Lydon's self-proclaimed "anit-music" struck a chord with me. I then woke up from the spell once Album was released and it was the Album tour in 1986 that was the last time I saw them live. Was so excited when Martin joined with the MINISTRY/RevCo team of misfits.
As a fan of HypoLuxa productions, WaxTrax! Records, and Paul Barker - I want to like these guys more than I actually do.
fantastic jams
Some classic jams from one of the greatest but I can only handle small doses. Jazz is a language I don’t fully understand.
Classic. I like Pete’s voice
can't say CCR invented southern rock, but they certainly perfected it. some classics on this record.
New York state of mind...!
unmistakable influence on so many bands that follow. i still find it rather boring. I forget which member spawns the creator of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. So, thanks I guess.
nope
Some straight up classics on here. Epitomizes 80’s alt/goth/emo before there were such things
This record begins the end. Their first three records established them as "pioneers of alternative" with creative song structures, but this record shows how they slip into traditional styles, making them more accessible to radio and the masses. A couple of tracks carry their original vibe (Down to the Well, The Happening) but also shine light on the new direction leading to Trompe Le Monde - I stopped listening to them.
they are fine musicians and song writers but for me - meh.
