"Take it away! Take it away!"
Super abrupt start which makes sense for punk! It starts to pick up around Beverly Hills.
Back Against the Wall opening is very fun!
Honestly not my favourite listen, but I could imagine it would be sick live
I'm enjoying the concept album lol. It could be because I'm listening to this album at 3:30am in a library hyped on adrenaline, caffeine and impending doom but I'm really enjoying this T_T It wouldn't be on my usual rotation but I found it really enjoyable lol. Solid 3!
Top Songs:
Mothership Connection (Star Child)
Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication (The Bumps Bump)
I'm listening to music, but I can't say I'm enjoying it. The instrumental is fun but I just cannot get behind Elvis vocals, nor the typical 'fade-out' style of ending the songs which are so unfortunately used.
I am happy music has moved on.
Wonderful album! I've listened to it before so re-listening is a treat. Comedic, fun, entertaining - it's a fantastic and classic album that makes you just want to bounce.

This is so typically 70s I'm kinda obsessed with it!

A beautiful album that has been a gateway for me to Jazz, perfect to relax to, read to, enjoy life to.

Honestly so so enjoyable and a great listen - 5!
Didn't really know what to expect going into this, once again another artist I had heard so much about but never delved into. Starting mellow and soft, I found 'Tell Me Why' charming and warm, but the slower more subtle songs weren't just as appealing. An enjoyable listen :)
Top Picks:

Probably evens out to a 3
I will never pass up an opportunity to listen to Fetch The Bolt Cutters. A godsend of an album that never fails to delight the ears. Apple at her best with avant garde and beautiful music.
It saddens me to see the 'classic rock' fans who dismiss her lyrics as trivial, clearly your love of political lyrics extends only to the men you can relate to. Don't listen to Nirvana's 'Rape Me' but condemn Fiona Apple's "For Her".

Always and forever a 5.
Undeniably a work of art. While I'm not a big piano fan it was lovely to listen to (no matter how intimidating a 26 minute song is lol). Reading the the other reviews detailing Keith Jarrett's creative process was so awe inspiring and just reminded me how cool music is.
Definitely a high 4 from me!
Not my usual pick of rock but honestly pretty fun, I never really knew where it was going. Obsessed with the more feminine vocals. I don't think it would be something I'd pick up again but equally the listening experience wasn't bad.
Top Picks:
Relight the Flame
Rising Above Bedlam

Solid 3.
I've liked some Beck before but I think it requires a certain mood. While it certainly wasn't a bad album, it wasn't my favourite.
Top Pick:
Paper Tiger
Lonesome Tears
Sunday Sun

Hitting a 3
"I will love the police that kick the shit out of you"
Satirical (if certainly and obviously dated), critiquing aesthetic priority in political subcultures, emotionless families, and police brutality. I think the experimental aspects are funny and silly, especially when satirizing contemporary music styles by having sudden style shifts. Reading reviews of this album has reminded me that not everyone enjoys 'noise' as a genre lol.

Absolutely Free
Flower Punk

Honestly like a 4.75 in my books!
God I hate this man. Love the Smiths but this was something else. A solo career did not suit him despite his vocals being arguably one of his most iconic elements.
The album opens terribly and the lyrics read like a 2020 discord conversation, yet somehow worse. Frankly, the lyrics are an empty shell of a message reinforced by his own track record of racist and anti-immigration views. Obnoxiously English is how I would put it.
He picks up the ball a little towards the latter half of the album, not my favourite project he's been involved with, but notably I genuinely enjoyed 'I Like You'. I'd give it a solid 1.5, ultimately the majority of the songs were skippable or unenjoyable due to the lyricism. It's fine.

First of the Gang to Die
I Like You
Having never listened to Steely Dan, I would not have predicted this is the angle of it! It opens really strong I enjoyed the little jazz-fusion thing it had going.
I feel like as it went on I kinda enjoyed it less, not necessarily because it's a bad album but more so because it's just not my regular listening.
3.75

YES!!! This website always becomes a lot more tolerable once I escape the 70s. I always hated electronic, but I think I was engulfed in 'indie rock' snobbery. This is energetic, fun yet casual. I'm sorry to all the Aphex Twin listeners I truly doubted you, yet now I see how horribly wrong I was </3

This is very much a 5 for me hehe
Not extraordinary but thoroughly enjoyable! I'd say a solid 3 as it was another late night library listen and I locked in immensely!
I enjoyed the album but had notable picks, although he has an undeniably beautiful voice, I'm not sure I would re-listen. Although it was an artistic an snazzy album, 3 stars
