My favourites so far are “out on the street”,”I don’t mind”, and “my generation”. I’m getting big Beatles vibes from this album, although it’s probably the case that these guys influenced the Beatles. Not my favourite genre to be honest, but very listenable. I’m sure it was a “generational” album but just not my cup of tea.
It was okay FOR ME. I’m not super into country as is and old country especially, however, the “Red Headed Stranger” song was cool in the fact that it told a story of how a man killed his lover, and I feel like mainstream artists don’t tell stories like that nowadays. One of the highlights on the album was in the song “Down Yonder” with its cool old timey, saloon style instrument.
I liked how upbeat it was halfway through the album. The drums and bass were good, in fact, the whole rhythm section was good and the guitar gave me hints of metal riffs at times, however, I felt like their were just reheating nachos halfway through the album and I got bored of it. The vocals, which are very important to me, weren’t giving me any or any sort of emotion, so I stopped listening halfway through, but I know people love the red hot chili peppers, so I MIGHT come back later once I’ve listened to more albums.
on first listen the vocals are a little bit raw and unfiltered and not exactly melodic and especially for a female singer. Upon further listen I actually very much dislike her vocals.
It’s very listenable for me. The vocals are tolerable. The synths and guitar tones are up my alley. I like how there is a drastic switch up from the first song on the album to the second because when listening to an album, each song having its own identity is very important. The album had me at mis-shapes, lost me at I spy, had me again at Disco 2000 (my favourite song on the album), and then had good ending with Bar Italia. Over all, very listenable for a gen Z such as myself.
Very instrumental. It was okay. Not exactly my forte but i can appreciate what it’s doing and it’s good at it. The production is great. Something my school band class would play, but I’m missing my chorus’s.
I love it! Best album I’ve listened to so far. It’s got atleast 4 songs that I really like and for me if an album does that than it’s a hit in my books. Billy Joel’s singing is generational; he just has the sauce. Cent rate it 5/5 because I don’t believe in perfect scores but it would be really close to 5/5.
It’s kind of felt jazzy at times and very instrumental. I think there were like two hits on there for me so it’s a solid album imo. I can see how it’s influential, but it just isn’t of my genration I can’t see eye to eye with this one entirely.
All by myself at the very end of the album was hilarious it was obviously a joke. But this album kicked ass. It had a lot of hits basket case, welcome to paradise, when I come around. Over all very good. Loved the power chords on with complicated drum parts over top.
Very groovy and chilled. It’s got superstition on it and some sweet love songs like You and I that stuck out to me, but mainly superstition which I can see was super influential.
This was very strange to me especially the milk song. There were some disturbing, eery sounds, but I get that it’s by design. All that being said, I did enjoy most of it. Wasn’t the worst in the world, but I like music with vocals and without weird noises.
Felt very fun of the mill to me.
All of the songs kind of blended together and wasn’t melodic or anything drastic in the songs that kept me interested for more than a few songs at a time.
There are some really long, drawn out instrumental sections that are just guitar screeching or feedback or just slightly unpleasant sounds near the end or middle or bridges of the songs. I really like the opening song Dirty Boots where it was more instrumental, the guy was singing. Don’t get me wrong I’m not sexist, but the female vocalist sucked imo because she just spoke and it was very obvious what the song title was because she would just say the title for the chorus and constantly remind us what the song is called through out with her talk singing.
For a lot of the hooks it’s just the title of the song over and over until you get bored of it. There are really simple power chords in the background of each song. The electric guitar and drums are very prominent parts of this style. Very catchy to be honest. Blitzkrieg Bop, let’s dance, and Beat on Brat really stick out to me on this album. A very punk rock album of the 70’s. Not my cup of tea and this is my rating so it’s getting a 1 out of 10.
Loved his voice. The instruments were cool especially the trumpet parts.
It felt more rock orientated for Queen. It had some bangers on there, but I can’t get into it for some reason. I can’t relate to anything on it.
