The Stranger by Billy Joel
Aug 27 2025

Maybe just a younger age thing, sounds like a musical soundtrack. Just not my cup of tea. Some good songs and storytelling lyrics but nothing that evoked a lot of emotion for me

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash

Fucking great. Laughed my ass off. What a storyteller

Fun Listen

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Sep 01 2025

Fun album, I really enjoyed some of the musical choices they made. There were often subtle decisions that really added to the piece such as just briefly switching to a minor harmony when singing about something sad during a happy song or giving a song a waltz feel but in 4/4.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Sep 03 2025

This was one of my first records I got on vinyl. Some of the songs are nostalgic and I actually hear some of my guitar influence in this playing. I found myself knowing some of (who I assume was claptons) the solos essentially note for note. Wouldn't really go out of my way to listen the whole album, however some of the songs are very good. Still not happy about Clapton being a racist so maybe that's having an impact on the rating.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Sep 08 2025

It’s not my cup of tea. I kind of hear influences of what must be the Beatles. It’s very much like Billy Joel in the sense that it reminds me of something that could be in a musical. Haven’t really ever listened to David Bowie and don’t really love his voice. I guess at least I’ve done it. There were a couple songs at the end there that I liked.

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Sep 10 2025

Beats are amazing. Lyrics are effective, thoughtful but sometimes come off corny by todays standards. At the same time, TCQ does a great job of creating a cohesive identity and sound during their music. It's such a calming type of hip hop which is lovely in the midst of a popularity of screaming and hype music. As we seem to be continuously chasing new highs in our music, it's refreshing to hear something so music which is calming but with powerful social commentary.
