1001 Albums Summary

There's 5 or 6 excellent songs on this album. The harmonica really stands out which I like. I would rate this album a 6 out of 10 because there are also 5 or 6 songs that are just not very good. I would not listen to this album straight through.

This album was full of what I think of as movie soundtracks. I'm sure many of the songs were in movies but I didn't actually recognize any of them.

Really good music from the era of good music. It takes me back to the good and bad times of the late 60s and early 70s.

There are some iconic songs on this album. Simon and Garfunkel are one of the greatest duos in music history.

I really don't know what to think about this album. I'm a Neil Young fan much like I'm a Bob Dylan fan. I think they are both musical geniuses, but I would not go to their concerts or listen to a whole album. I prefer the 5-6 iconic songs they each sing and the many other songs they wrote that other artists sing.

I didn't have any expectations for this album. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it though. The covers were surprisingly good. Obviously, Hurt is outstanding, but so is Personal Jesus. I laughed out loud when I realized Cash was doing a Roberta Flack cover. Overall, a really good listen.

Very nice album. I listened to the whole album on a drive home and it was relaxing.

There's not a single song on this album that I would not skip.

Cheap Trick has a sound all their own.

This is the first album I listened to twice without skipping a single song. The only song I actually knew was Time of the Season which is an all time classic along with She's Not There, but every other song was enjoyable and interesting because of the underlying dark nature of the lyrics disguised with relatively cheerful music and good instrumentation at that. This will be one is listen to occasionally along with Back in Black.

Timberlake has a great voice, but this era of music was not my favorite.

Never been a Bowie fan...still not.

It's probably not fair to compare an album like this to one that has lyrics. The music may be great, but it would be hard to just sit and listen to the whole album unless you're waiting in a doctor's office.

I've always liked Bonnie Raitt. She has an amazing voice and style all her own. I wasn't familiar with any other the songs on this album though. That said, I listened all the way through and enjoyed each song. I was just a really nice listen. Just to calibrate, if I listen to every song on an album without skipping any, that's 4-5 stars for me. Bonnie gets 4 stars.

As much as I try to relate, I just can't....know what I'm sayin?

I really wanted to like this album and I would have said that I was a Cat Stevens fan. He was a prominent artist during the time my music tastes were being formed. However, all I could think about as every song played was Jack Black singing these songs. The whole album sounded like him and seemed like something he would do.

The best thing about the Stokes's album is when the ads played between the songs. I really enjoyed those.

I never heard of Can even though 1971 was right in my prime music listening era. Now, I know why. If I didn't know this album was from the early 70s, I would have guessed it was the mid-90s while listening.

I was not familiar with Shack before listening to this album. It was a pleasant surprise. I listened to the whole album straight through which is my benchmark for a good album. I could hear influences from the Beatles, Crosby, Steals, Nash and Young and also maybe some Gordon Lightfoot. Overall, a really nice album.

Just a good rock/blues jam!

Great album for the season, but it's probably not fair to compare a Christmas album with famous singers and groups playing all well known songs verses a single group playing all their own work.

CCR has been one of my favorite groups for over 50 years. So, it's probably a little hard to be completely objective about this album. That said, there's probably 4-5 really good songs with the rest being album fillers.

What a shocker! I didn't think I would care for this album at all, but it was really good. I listened to the whole thing and enjoyed it all.
