the metal screaming is very annoying, but the songs themselves are mostly quite cool. Love the driving bass/drum sections, cool guitar solos.
Overall not my favourite album, but on average a solid 3 stars
Not a huge Massive Attack fan (so far), but damn, this was a great album. Not all tracks are my favourites, but it's definitely a 4+. Too many songs which I would skip in subsequent sessions to rate it as a 5, though.
Probably difficult to judge in 2025 on how this was received back in '69. Is it unfair to say it's easy (to) listen(ing)?
Everything has already been said about "Mother", by just about everyone.
You have to actively work through the first half of the album to get to more familiar ground. Weird mix, can't get myself to give it a 4.

A band called "Violent Femmes", recorded in 1982 and in the Genre Punk. I was prepared for the first... and pleasantly surprised.
Someone mentioned "acoustic punk", and that's exactly what this is. Very nice.
Unsure whether I should look into their other albums... I'm not ready to be disappointed.
Angel Dust will always be my favourite FNM album, but this is really nice...

I feel like this album should either get a 1 or a 5. I _get_ that it's something special, but... I can't relate to it. Could not do it 25 years ago, still can't do it today.

Very atmospheric. Great voice. Lots of great information on Wikipedia about each individual song, helps to put things in perspective.
