Popular Reviews

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Put me in a Smokey road house. Put me on a road trip. Take me to when the album came out and let me smoke out with pops. This will be introduced to regular rotation.

Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues

Who doesn't love rum sodomy? But over an hour of it may be a bit too much. Is it all one track? Is there much of a difference? Is my ear not discerning enough for the pirate folk? The day after listening, I woke up with a bad case of scurvy.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Nov 27 2025

Album full of classic hits and feel good bops. Great way to start! Comments on non-classics -Speed Demon only has 38 million plays, probably because the overly aggressive cartoonish slap bass. -Liberian Girl is... something else... - Just Good Friends, BOP - Thanks for showing up Stevie! - Another Part of Me - Meh. Not out of place, but doesn't move anything - Closing run of Man in the Mirror to Leave Me Alone is FANTASTIC

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Nov 28 2025

Not my jam. Not terrible. Enjoyed the listen. However most of it rides the same pocket for the entirety of the album. Wouldn’t choose to put it on again, but probably wouldn’t change if a few songs came up on random.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Grew up on this album. No notes needed. Enjoy Flea or pound sand - or better yet, Suck My Kiss

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Dec 03 2025

So... I anticipated dreading this album. But I ended up being surprised. Wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to listen to it again, but if a track came up in the future, wouldn't be opposed. Fine for background

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Dec 04 2025

It's disco, if you can look past some of that cheese, the music itself is a bop. Gets the toe tappin', the booty shakin', and hey, you end up recognizing all the hip hop songs that have sampled this record! All I need to know next is where is the snow?

White Light / White Heat by The Velvet Underground
Dec 05 2025

Well... there's that. Love you John Cale, but this ain't it.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Dec 08 2025

G-Funk Era is still alive and well. As the sun rotates and my game grows bigger....

Dec 09 2025

If you love R.E.M. you love this album. If you don't like R.E.M. you still enjoy this album. Yet another that was fine to listen to, but not one I'm marking for repeat listens. Radio hits were fine, some of the deeper cuts are fine. Overall... it's fine.

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba
Dec 10 2025

One of the things I was looking forward to with this project was to be exposed to albums or artist I haven't heard before. This is one. Will it be on regular rotation? No. Did I enjoy it? Sure. Will I now be singing the Naughty Little Flea song over and over again? Yes.

Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues

Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
Dec 12 2025

I tried. Put it on and it somehow just faded to the background as if I wasn't listening to anything at all.

The White Album by Beatles
Dec 15 2025

Grew up on the Beatles. Grew up on this album. What a treat to revisit.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Dec 16 2025

Make my funk the P-Funk, I wants to get funked up. Thank you George Clinton & Bootsy Collins. Unfunky UFO may be one of the best tracks out there.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Dec 17 2025

Some classic Marley tunes. Album would probably hit better if it wasn't freezing cold outside and in the middle of a winter storm. Makes me want to be barefoot in the sand somewhere.

Pieces Of The Sky by Emmylou Harris
Dec 18 2025

Emmylou has a fantasic voice. Some fun tunes on this.

Revolver by Beatles
Dec 19 2025

Once again, can't go wrong with the Beatles. Revolver was another one of those albums played often in the house growing up.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Dec 22 2025

Part of the reason why I started this adventure, find things I wouldn't have on my own. Enjoyed this. Funky beat, don't understand the words, but the body knows the groove.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Dec 23 2025

Leonard's voice is one that can often be found narrating my dreams. Either ghoulish nightmares or an easy breezy afternoon in the shade. Never going out of my way to listen. Wasn't the worst, but still the adoration of this guy at times confuses me.

Dec 29 2025

Album title is fitting. I want to find myself in an old western town ready for a bar fight and duel. When I win, I'll take my spoils and hit the dusty trails. Great story telling and a great voice.
