Machine Gun Etiquette by The Damned
Dec 01 2025

Great opening to the album. I cannot stand punk though Jesus Christ. This first song has a pleasant chord progression in the chorus. Track 2 is the title track. I hate it. Track 3 is more interesting and starting to foreshadow the 80s, there’s a talking heads and Morrissey vibe. The talking pieces are kind of fun. Yeah I’m going to call this song fun. Great instrumental bridge with some kind of hurdy gurdy instrument. The lyrics though are straight empowered boomer nonsense and highly cringe. “We’re not going to be happy! Because no one can tell us what to do! Because we make our own rules!” Okay boomer. Track 4 is a ballad with Billy Joel chords. Oh never mind now it’s punk. I hate this. Track 5 is snotty kid punk about church. I hate it. Good electric guitar on the bridge though. This bit is foreshadowing Walk Like an Egyptian of all things. Track 6 is a horrific attempt at a Beatles song. Is this actually morrissey singing? I hate this. I hate everything about this. Track 7 is an Eric Clapton song. This album is derivative nonsense. Track 8 is the only kind of punk I sort of like which is dirty guitar that foreshadows grunge. Ope no that ended and now it’s bad. The lyrics are atrociously self important. Oh no and with some Rex Harrisoning thrown in. THIS IS AWFUL I HATE IT. Worst chorus I’ve ever heard. Track 9 is more proto-Talking Heads, or if TH was out by now then it’s a ripoff with a punk beat. I hate it. Track 10 is a first draft, they should have workshopped this more. I hate it. Track 11 is the closing track and very much foreshadows 90s alternative rock in a fun way. Great bass line. Oh now it’s turned into sort of a bland 70s strummer. Aaaaaand now it’s boring late 70s pop punk with a lot of derivative guitar and organ. I hate it. The end!

Is This It by The Strokes
Dec 02 2025

A little boring and repetitive, very of a time and place. It's fine music, just not my jam.

London Calling by The Clash
Dec 04 2025

Excellent music from the jump, not many skips. The production is super crisp.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Dec 05 2025

Pretty hard to find anything to dislike in this album. Megahit after megahit belted by a standout voice, foreshadowing Adele.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

This is exactly what I always imagined Roger from RENT’s music probably sounded like. I can’t in good conscience recommend this album.
