Not a bad album, some interesting parts to it and I'm a sucker for prog. Feels a little _too_ noodley at points and uninspired, but that is probably due to my main prog love being Rush. A Time and a Place was probably my person stand out, though I enjoyed the lyrics of The Only Way (Hymn).
Generally very good funk. Really like the first and last songs, with the penultimate song also being very solid. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th songs all partially forgettable and I didn't enjoy City, Country, City at all.
It's very clear what this album influenced, and there is very minimal music I like from that influence.
Inoffensive pop masquerading as Jazz, not as bad as modern pop for my tastes but still not worth anything more than a no. Smooth Operator is the best track and every single one is just the same song over and over, so it wins by default.
Album is fine, not as bad as the previous couple. It clearly is a contemporary of Bowie (produced by him actually) and as somebody who doesn't enjoy much Bowie... not a fan. Walk on the Wild Side the only real song that catches my attention, which is why this is a 2 star.
Surprisingly, considering what I expected, not my least favourite so far. It's still getting a 1 star from me but like, a higher 1 star? Rap just isn't my genre and the misogyny is very off putting but considering I'll probably rank ACDC 4 or 5 stars later I'd feel hypocritical to downgrade for that too much.
My main issue is the backing more than anything, I think the vocals over something heavier would end up being something I enjoy (hence Rage Against the Machine being a favourite of mine).
Album is fine, nothing bad but not much that's my favourite. Bad Moon Rising is fantastic of course, which gets the album a 3*.
Not exactly a fair album to put with the rest so far as I'm a huge Dylan fan. Great album, though it doesn't reach the heights of some of his others for me. It's lacking a true top song of his for my own taste, but still a brilliant album. Best one so far but I know what's to come, so 4*.
Album is fine, better than some of the previous and I do like some Nirvana. Cobain's voice is good on most songs, though I don't really like it when he does soft singing. Songs like Scentless Apprentice I like with the screaming, though the rest of the band I generally find to be lackluster on all the songs.
Pretty fun, generally decent but overall overshadowed by its forebears. Definitely can hear the influence of Led Zeppelin here, and they're not as good as that.
I disliked this album to the point of, I have effectively forgotten the album in the two or three days it took me to come write the written review.
It's Jazz! I'm sure it's very good Jazz, but I'm not the biggest Jazz fan. Still like it though, so 2*.
Not my thing. Just nothing about these appeals, it's inoffensive musically and is removed from any genre I like.
Honestly just boring, and the music sucks generally. Couple moments where they break out of that confinement and play something more interesting but it's generally buried into a little of each song than having a single standout song. Hence, 1*.
I like John Martyn. He's got a brilliant voice and beautiful guitar playing. I did quite like this album, his oddly breathless singing on Dealer was great. The album did have some parts that were a bit more "pretty" that I found boring but a very solid album.
I'm a certified Queen hater so this probably comes as no surprise but I found this album boring and stale. It's not the worst thing, I didn't actively want to get it over with really but I just don't enjoy how Queen puts songs together. They hit the middle point of not being very heavy but not being folky enough that just grinds at me.
I could not wait for this album to end. I do not get it, I was bored out of my mind. Nothing really more to say about this, possibly the worst album I've listened to so far.
