Easily recognizable hits + songs I’ve never heard. Classic rock album for the time.

Classic folk singer-songwriter. Makes me want to go lie in a field or take a nature walk—in the best way. I’ve listened to several songs on this album for years (One Of These Things First & Northern Sky), but it’s a great record to listen through beginning to end. Reminds me of college. It’s heartbreaking we didn’t get more from Nick Drake. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I mean, it’s Stevie Wonder. He’s a legend. There are a few standouts for me (Boogie On Reggae Woman, You Haven’t Done Nothin’, which makes me think of Mardi Gras, and They Won’t Go When I Go), but some were kind of sleepy and repetitive for me. I think I just wasn’t in the proper mood, though, because of course his work is brilliant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can appreciate this. The storytelling is amazing. The vocals are incredibly soothing and smooth. It’s not the type of music I regularly listen to, but I can see why he had a long, successful career. Kind of makes me think of my grandfather, and I believe I’d enjoy this on vinyl. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well, I got bored of the 2-minute-long intro to the first song—too repetitive.
Time To Get Away was catchy—it had me moving (albeit awkwardly). You could even say I *liked* it.
North American Scum—okay, this is catchy too. The line “but in the end we make the same mistakes again” is quite timely.
The next few songs got a bit repetitive to me—but they made for good house-cleaning tunes.
A classic. Nora Jones has a heavenly voice, and this album is sublime. It’s peaceful and soothing and nourishing to the soul. One of those I’ll never tire of.

Everybody knows the song “Born In The USA” but many don’t understand it’s not a blindly patriotic song. I don’t often listen to Bruce, but I admire his songwriting, his longevity, and his integrity. A classic album. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love the grooviness of this indie rock album. I know The Black Keys from their singles/hits, but I don’t think I’ve listen to an entire album of theirs beginning to end. Something that’s easy to listen to (in a good way) because it’s catchy AF. A bit repetitive and boring after a while, but not gratingly so. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very cinematic and relaxing. But some songs make me want to dance. A soothing voice and lovely musicality. Not something I’d regularly listen to, but this would be excellent to play at a dinner or set the mood for a late 60s party vibe.

Groovy and fun, for the most part. A couple of songs didn’t do it for me, but most I enjoyed.
Cloud Nine and Gonna Keep On Tryin’ Till I Win Your Love are the perfect opener and closing song.
I don’t listen to much rap or hip hop, but I respect the art. I enjoyed several songs on this album and definitely recognized some interpolations that were nicely added. A few songs were too repetitive, but overall this album was quite palatable.
I respect the Beastie Boys and do like a few of their songs, but I just can’t do a whole album. Are they talented? Absolutely. But it very much sounds like noise to me. I’m sorry—I feel like I should love this, and maybe upon another listen I’ll feel differently, but it’s just not for me. ⭐️⭐️ 1/2 rounded up.
Jam bands aren’t always my…jam. But I do like The Allman Brothers and can tell that this is top tier. Maybe not for work desk listening, but in the right time and place, I’d be all over this.
I just love music from this era. It’s a great album. Funky, but classic, and strong lyrically. Why have I never listened to this whole album before now?
I feel like everybody knows a few songs from this album. I grew up with it. It’s something I can listen to no matter the mood or environment. Some songs sound almost the same, but so what? It’s Green Day, we like them, and we respect their brand of punky/poppy/guitar-driven rock. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Rating given strictly for the classic music, not Phil himself.
It’s one of the most well known and high-ranked albums for a reason. Just weird enough. A good beat & lyrics. An awesome story. I love concept albums and albums that tell an entire story.
Didn’t love it, definitely didn’t hate it.
Kind of a mix of Bowie, The Beatles, and…I don’t know, The Clash? It wasn’t especially memorable to me, but I could listen again.
“Folktronica”—never heard that term, but I like it.
I listen frequently to female singer-songwriters and I enjoyed this. A few songs didn’t “speak” to me, but overall, a nice album for easy listening. I will check out more of Beth Orton since this is my first encounter.

I actually enjoyed this a lot. The production is fantastic, and even though I generally hate songs that have like a 3 minute instrumental intro, the music was really good here.
