1001 Albums Summary

Excellent summer cruise music - listened to it a bunch in my teens. Never could get Black Dog right on guitar, but it was the first song I learned through a teacher.

Some ear worms here and beautiful melodies. For me, in 2025, a four star album. In 93, a 5.

Not my thing, but a couple classics on here.

I have never really felt the urge to listen to Joni. Some of her word choices are silly, but wow the music is so well composed. Because of this album I checked out a live set and WOW is her band killer.

Not my thing. The acoustic part for Don't know Why was written by my friend's guitar teacher. It's a Starbucks classic.

Can't believe that I haven't really given this a listen. Dire Straits is one of those bands with a few huge hits, and therefore my dad played them a lot in the car while I was growing up. Trips to visit my grandparents were mainly the greatest hits Dire Straits, Huey Lewis, and other late 70s and 80s stuff. This album is better than expected. Would have loved to see them live back in the day.

Really can't give this one anything less than a 5.

I'm glad to revisit this album. Steve Howe is such a unique guitar player and the compositions of these songs are fun to rediscover. I avoided doing so for a long time due to hearing Roundabout way too many times.

Didn’t get a chance to listen to it all

Great bands and an insane producer, I’m over Christmas music.

I wish this band had a different front man, or, better put, a different lyricist. "Someone Great" was a banger for me for a long time. That's a 5 even if the lyrics aren't perfect.

A couple good tracks, super dated

incredible album by the best singer songwriter in the past thirty years. The compositions and instrumental skill are mesmerizing.

Some really incredible songs. This type of music becomes broing to me after a time, though, as it's often put on by people I know as background "safe" music during get togethers. Because of that it's spoiled over time.

Sonic Youth never really hit the right notes for me. I appreciate the rhythmic patterns and the guitar work here, but it's not high on my list. If I saw them live while they were together and were younger, I'd likely feel more.

Some truly great tracks here a well done covers of classics. The backing band is really high quality.
