Popular Reviews

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet

Maybe it’s just because it’s jazz, but this feels like the antithesis to the rock album I called generic. This was just fun to listen to, often for simple reasons - Take Five is so damn simple but so catchy. Exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to get from this list.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Dec 15 2025

This album is for people who have more sex than me (any at all) Clearly a classic and influential on all sorts of stuff. The first 20 seconds of the first and title track is practically code for "these two people are imminently going to have sex" that I almost laughed hearing it but the rest of the song is such a vibe it doesn't even matter.

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Dec 16 2025

Haven’t heard Stevie Wonder quite like this before, only know his huge hits. Really interesting to hear and cool to hear a more raw or rough around the edges kind of sound than something like superstition. This feels like an album you smoke to

Achtung Baby by U2
Dec 17 2025

Hadn’t heard this side of U2 much before, only their more recent albums. Like the rest of their stuff, I see why they hit it big, and this album seems rougher around the edges in a good way

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Dec 18 2025

Never heard of this group before and this is fantastic. I don’t know if I have any real notes but like very fun rock, unique sound. This might be my favorite so far

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Dec 19 2025

This album feels soulful, mourning, and romantic. It’s not the kind of thing I’d ever listen to on my own, but I understand why it’s here

In Utero by Nirvana
Dec 22 2025

I can see why this is beloved - lots of very raw emotion and real musical talent. Add to that the personal tragedy of Kurt Cobain and it makes sense this album (and nirvana in general really) is such a watermark. I think ultimately this just isn’t really my thing

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Dec 23 2025

I had heard the name Dire Straits before (and not just because of JoJo) but wouldn’t have been able to place any of their music. This feels like the late 70s/early 80s version of a vibey rock album, and I dig it. Some of it is a little slow for me but particularly the second half of the album has good energy

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
Dec 24 2025

All I know before listening is I like when she runs up that hill Holy fuck this shit got me levitating bro I gotta listen to more Kate Bush. This is music

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta
Dec 25 2025

Never ever heard of this And no wonder. This is good but it’s maybe the least pop thing so far. Lots of long songs and very intense/hardcore rock. It’s good, not always quite my thing but good

Dec 26 2025

A great collection of Christmas classics and a very worthy addition to the many versions of those that exist. Not the one I grew up with but I might keep some with me

Dec 29 2025

It’s Queen baby, let’s get it Weirdly I don’t have a lot to say about this album. It’s Queen, it’s good, bohemian rhapsody in particular is a classic. But it isn’t sticking with me like a couple others on the list so far have

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Dec 30 2025

This is probably the most out-there thing on the list so far. It probably deserves another listen just to appreciate all the vibes. Very like ambient hip-hop at a lot of points and not very poppy at all. I sorta vibed with it though.

B-52's by The B-52's
Dec 31 2025

This was a fun listen! Kind of the late 70s /early 80s version of alt or folk rock? I wasn’t in love with a couple of the early tracks but was grooving by the end

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jan 01 2026

This was a fun listen. Not a ton to say tbh. Some classic songs and I like the sound overall.

Back to Mystery City by Hanoi Rocks
Jan 02 2026

This isn’t hitting that hard for me. It’s just rock music. Not much sticks out about it to me. Might be a case of listening to the thing that then became the standard, though, and I’m unimpressed because I’ve heard what is ultimately their influence in too many other things.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jan 05 2026

Maybe it’s just because it’s jazz, but this feels like the antithesis to the rock album I called generic. This was just fun to listen to, often for simple reasons - Take Five is so damn simple but so catchy. Exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to get from this list.

Jan 07 2026

Someone out there is listening to this saying they don’t make real rap like this anymore They’re right but not because there’s no real rap anymore but because real rap doesn’t sound like this anymore

Destroyer by KISS
Jan 08 2026

This feels like the good version of that Finnish rock album I listened to a while ago. Catchy and it’s got a vibe and character to it. Fun listen. Ok but maybe I’m a little biased because it’s in JoJo

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Jan 09 2026

This is the good version of old people music If I was classier I’d hang out in places that play music like this Idk man it’s Ray fuckin Charles what was it gonna be? Bad??

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jan 12 2026

This does a pretty much perfect job of hitting the vibe it’s going for. Feels like the perfect album to sit on the beach and smoke. That’s just not really my vibe

Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Jan 13 2026

Classic rock. Bangers. Good energy. Idk what else to say.
