I have already heard some of the songs in this album and it had been on my to listen list, so this was the sign I had to listen to it.
Overall, I think it is a solid album, it feels very cohesive although I wish the song were a bit more different between.
My favourites right now would be Basket Case and Welcome to Paradise (although this is probably because they are the ones I am more familiar with), other than that I think Coming clean is also pretty good.
I had only heard Every Breath You Take so the overall sound of the album took me by surprise, it is a good album though.
A song which I already liked sonically and as a song about someone who doesn't seem to realise they are becoming obsessive with who they think they are in love with.
My favourites by the album are probably O My God and Murder By Number.
I don't think I've ever fully heard a song by them (only some parts of some) but I've seen loads of their t-shirts, although.
I did like the album and although I've seen some people critisize the singing I liked it. The songs can be somewhat similar to each other but I feel this fits the album and I did not find it tiring.
My favourite song would be Blitzkrieg Bop and Havana Affair.
I don't tend to like Christmas music, but let's see.
Vocals were nice always and the maximalist production felt sometimes right like in The bells of Saint Mary but sometimes too much like in Frosty the Snowman
Overall a good album, some song were quite long like Voodoo Chile (almost 15 minutes) but I don't think that diminished them.
As expected the guitar was good.
My favourites would probably be: All along the watchtower, House burning down and Cross town traffic
I've heard this album being cited as a very influential one and, I had previously listened to some of its songs.
For some reason at times it felt a bit burdersome to me, but I think the songs are still good (maybe it was not the right time for me)
My favourites would probably be: I just wasn't made for these times, That's not me and Here today
Not something I would pick up on my own but it was a light listen and it was quit fine. I generally preffered the instrumental tracks over the ones that contain vocals.
Favourite songs: Down Yonder, Can I Sleep in Your Arms, Bandera
I had heard of PJ Harvey before but never a song, only passing mentions so this was definetly a good discovery, I will give it a relisten another day.
Favourite songs: A Place Called Home, The Whores Hustle And The Hustlers Whore, The Mess We're In, This Is Love
It's not that I actively dislike it, I just don't really find anything in the album. And because of that I found it a bit boring and it became quite a drag to listen to. It's probably just not for me, I'm sure other people can find something in it.
Favourites would probably be Several Sins and Release the Bats
Good idea for an album, execution sometimes good, acomplishing what I think was intended, but sometimes flawed. At times akward rapping with akward flow, there are better albums with english rap other than this one.
I think it gets better as you listen to it, maybe because you become accostumed to the song or perhaps because it starts in a low with the starting track "It Was Supposed to Be so Easy".
Favourites: "Wouldn't have it any other way", "Fit but you know it", "Dry Your Eyes"
It is a fine album with a nice idea, but not something I would personally replay.
Favourite songs: Blues Variation, The Hut of Baba Yaga (both parts)
This album begins well, has a good middle and finishes well.
Favourite songs: War Pigs/Luke's Wall, Paranoid, Jack the Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots
Heard quite a few songs from this, never the album itself. Although it may have quirks from 80s music (such as the way the songs end) it still manages to sound fresh.
Favourites: Shout, Everybody wants to rule the world, Mothers talk, Head over heels
4 because I round down a 4.3
