jan 1 2026, first listen [during o pato] chill as fuck. jazz isnt a genre ive explored much of, but im enjoying what im hearing so far [during bahia] i think "pleasant" is the best word to describe this album. its not too calm that itll bore you to tears, and its not avant garde to the point where itd turn someone unfamiliar with jazz and its associated subgenres away from giving the album a full listen. think this is the perfect album to put on if you just want to give yourself some nice background noise without it feeling like muzak. i can see myself putting this on again in the future whilst im reading something

jan 4, 2026, first listen [before listening] i dont think ive heard anything by these guys outside of "blister in the sun." i still find it hard to believe that its from the 80s as it has the brand of off-kilter angst id associate with the alternative music coming out in the 90s. then again, there are a fair amount of 80s albums that feel more like they belong in the 90s. im interested in hearing what the instrumentation on this sounds like [on kiss off] DUDE listen to that bass. i feel like the fact that the lead guitar is acoustic gives the bass so much opportunity to shine. this song rules [on add it up] im trying not to start every one of these notes with "dude" and then my thoughts but DUDE that slow build of the vocals to the main portion of the song. God Damn. [on confessions] i like the vocal inflection on those repeated lines ("hurry, hurry, hurry"). the vocals remind me of cameron winter a little bit here. Sorry for being gen z [on gone daddy gone] i kind of forgot this was by violent femmes. i havent heard this on the radio nearly as much as "blister in the sun" but i do like this song! listen to that xylophone solo. that fucking rules

jan 7, 2026. first listen. i got sick so i havent been keeping to my business week schedule like id hoped [before listening] all i really know about these guys is that its damon albarns 4 sonas and they have really convoluted lore or something [on 5/4] yeah i can tell this is damon albarn LMFAO. this has a killer groove though i fw it [on tomorrow comes today] yknow this song is making me realize that id probably really like trip hop if i listened to more of it NOOOO MY MISOPHONIA I FUCKING HATE WHISTLING BECAUSE OF THIS STUPID MENTAL ILLNESS FUCK MY STUPID CHUD LIFE [on clint eastwood] HEY IM HAPPY IM FEELING GL i really like the melodica on this album, i dont think thats an instrument ive heard used much in "professional" settings like this [on sound check (gravity)] alright you got me with that switch up... i wasnt feeling it when it was just the guitar and vocals but the introduction of the other instruments brought the energy the track needed [on 19-2000] OH THAT LITTLE SYNTH LINE IS FROM THIS SONG?? ive heard that out of context so many times that i thought it was from a video game or something. yeah this song is chill as hell
